Damn fine race. One of the best finishes in recent history!

If he keeps racing like that, his fan base will go through the roof. Other than the stanchest Johnson fans, who couldn't be happy to see Carl win? Great job. :beerbang:

Gotta love this guy. This is the first of what I think will be many wins. Congrats Carl. Wonder if He'll still be doing backflips when He's 50. :beerbang:

Just wondering........ Has anyone else won there first Bush and Nextel Cup race in the same weekend at the same track????????

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, I'm a staunch Johnson fan, and I thought that was a great finish to the race! Congrats to Carl and the team. (My dislike is for his car owner. )

I'm a JJ fan, but who would not be thrilled to see Carl win one? Bravo!

Who could not love that guy? :)

Dang you be9ak7ts16! That one got under my skin and I just had to figure it out.

For the record the previous closest first career victories in the 2 series had been 13 days apart when Jamie McMurray posted his first career Cup victory at Charlotte on 10/13/2002 and then posted his first career Busch victory at Atlanta on 10/26/2002.

Prior to McMurray the record belonged to Ricky Rudd who posted his first career Busch win at Dover on 5/14/1983 and then posted his first career Cup victory 22 days later at Riverside on 6/5/1983.

I send my heartiest congratulations to Carl and the team. I'm not a Roush fan, but this kid is good.

maj, I was thinking of you when I wrote that reply, but it was only in jest. I knew you would be disapointed but thrilled at the same time. I do know the disapointment in a driver and his fans when a win doesn't come, especially when they were the car to beat all day. However, in this case, Jimmy didn't do anything wrong and neither did Carl. I can only imagine the high those two guys got on that last lap, giving it all they had. What a rush.

I really wanted JJ to win, just to stick it in Nascar's face if for no other reason. I like JJ a lot!!!
BUT, WOW.....that kid is GOOD and the real deal. I'm not at all fond of the Cat in the Hat, but he's NOT stupid.
CONGRATULATIONS CARL and watch out youse guys!

Congrats to Carl and the team. It's great to see a first time winner and even better twice in one weekend.
:beerbang: :beerbang: :beerbang:
I just can't help but wonder what Jeff Burton thinks of this.

it was strategy!

Jimmie figured out he gets 20 more points for 2nd than he does for 1st....it was strategy... ;)

In all seriousness, as a JJ fan myself, you'd be hard pressed to overcome the adrenaline and say you were dissappointed with that finish.

Carl deserves major kudos for that win! He's definitly on track to become a very sucessful driver in all aspects...winning and fan base!

Congrats to Carl, Man can he drive and does he ever have car control.
Saving that thing was one thing, but to not lose hardly any ground was absolutly amazing. I couldn't think of a better way to win your first race than to be in contact all race long running in the top 3 & 4 and then to beat the best of the day.

This was the first time in NASCAR history that a driver has won his first Busch and Cup race in a weekend sweep.. Then he drove his motorcoach home. Congrat to a hell of a driver and classy young man.
