Congratulations to Carl Edwards

Carl and Kyle should have been in the chase last year . I hope this year they make up for that and have strong chase runs.

Congratulations Carl for not getting black flagged for cheating the restart.
Wasn't it once said, "It's not cheating if you can get away with it,"? But whether he had jumped or not I think he had the car to beat Menard and I think Menard knew that too.

No point in restarting at all then. Just hand the trophy to Edwards.

Love your thinking.....

So did Carl and Kurt jump the restart? Funny that by the time they reached the 1st turn they were both around Menard Even though when Menard first jumped at the hash marks. And are you saying that there was no contact prior to the start finish line? Sure looks like it to me. For Carl and Kurt to jump out in front of Menard like they did, Menard had to have spun his tires.

I'm saying that your logic is flawed......

"But whether he had jumped or not I think he had the car to beat Menard and I think Menard knew that too."

clearly this point is moot. Its Nascar applying the rules consistantly and fairly that are important here.

thats the funny part of it, menard knew he couldn't hang with the 99 so he isn't made about what happened. heck they got a top 5 out of it. its a wonder cars further back didn't stay out. If menard had fresh tires you could bet he would really be complaining about the outcome of the race.

I actually thought many more cars would have stayed out.

And that is a point of view as to whether they did apply them correctly or not. If no contact was made, I'd say there would be no argument. But Nascar writes the rule book, and as in the past, they interpret the rules.

...and they do it in an inconsistant manner Guru...:)

Just like when the 48 had the dominant car at Dover but beat Juan to the line and got black-flagged.

I'll go ahead and give him a semi congrats. :D

Yes I will agree that Nascar is inconsistent in dealing with the rules and I feel too that they show favoritism. But I'm not convinced in this case. I personally would have liked to have seen Kurt win the race, but in my personal opinion I can see why Nascar made the call they did.

the restart was an obvious rule violation. But I consider it very similar to a guy not getting flagged for pass interference then making a game winning touchdown catch. Yeah he broke a rule and benefitted from the lack of enforcement, but i have a really hard time calling that cheating. especially in the context of the true cheating in that race.

Aside from all that, is there a more classy and likeable guy in all of NASCAR than Carl Edwards? Just seems like a guy you can really root for.

The Eddie Haskell of Nascar.

Menard had no business on the front row. He was only there because of pit strategy he didn't race up to the front.Fell like a rock after the restart. Slick tires, and lack of skill, even went up and hit Carl in the door. Who cares.

Menard started the race, Edwards followed. Menard spun his tires, was Edwards supposed to spin his as well so as to keep pace with Menard?

Will the Carl Edwards witch hunt ever die:(
