... to Regan Smith, the REAL winner of the Amp Energy 500. :beerbang:

If your forced down there you still can't pass. At least thats what nascar says. This is the reason they won't let the public have access to the rule book.

I'd actually make out better on the Fantasy Points since Regan was one of my drivers. Ok.. give Regan the win. ;) He's from around here, too. Not like right here, but we claim any driver from the sort of area. :)

I agree. Reagon won the race. On the last lap it should be anything goes.

Once again all the drivers were told " you cannot advance your position if you are forced below the yellow line if you do give the position back and no penalty, now putting him in 18th is wrong IMO.

In this case Smith did not advance his position by going below the line. It was only after he had recrossed the line that he actually passed Stewart.now NASCAR wants to put him back to 18th for a penalty after the fact.

NASCAR reviewed the move — a driver is allowed to make the pass if officials believe he was forced under the line — and declared it illegal. Smith went with Dale Earnhardt Inc. president Max Siegel to argue the decision, but was rebuffed and dropped to 18th in the final finishing order.

"We just watched the tape. They can argue about it for five years, they're not going to change the decision. That's not how NASCAR works," Smith said. "I totally disagree with them 110 percent. I clearly moved to the outside, moved back to the inside. Tony made a move to the high side and made a move to the bottom side.

"My nose was in there. The only other option I had was to wreck him."

Y'all know that NASCAR does what it wants. Last week, they took away a win from a southern boy in a race at Martinsville and gave it to the better known northern tour team. It's political and it doesn't matter what is written, they will do what they want. But in this situation, they have plenty of history to back them up. Had it not been on the last lap, Regan would have been allowed to go back to second place. But with the race over, it was an all or nothing move. Sorry, but Regan lost...right or wrong.

And for all of you that says Jeff always whines and never steps up to take the blame for anything, well he did step up and take the blame for this. He said it was all his fault that Nascar had put in the yellow line rule. He referred to his win at Daytona where he almost ran into the lake getting around Rusty who was blocking him.

IMO, if Smith had dropped back behind Tony then he wouldn't have been penalized. Smith waited too long to make his move. His choice was to wreck Tony. Which maybe next time he will.

Jeff said on Wind tunnel that you don't go below the yellow line. Said he learned that the heard way. You go to the yellow line and hold your steering wheel and if the other person comes across your bumper and spins that's not your fault.

Or we can blame Rusty for whining about it so much that NASCAR made the rule. :owquitit: ;) Yep, they did joke around and Jeff said it was his fault. Other drivers have been bitten by that rule before, including Tony and Jeff. Regan needs to learn how to bump and run or how to move someone w/o wrecking himself - maybe just the other guy. What the DEI cars should have done is get a draft going on the high side and they both could have moved past Tony. And - isn't blocking something we see all the time? Tony had a right to block to save his position. Regan got a nose in? Since when is that HAVING the position? There was definitely room for him to get behind Tony after he went below the yellow. I feel sorry for the guy, but next time maybe he'll just move whoever is in his way like the other guys do. ;)

I bet if Smith is ever in that position again, there is going to be a wreck.
