Conor McGregor retiring?

He's been officially pulled from UFC 197. The rumor is that he demanded more money for the fight or he'd "retire" and the UFC called his bluff. Who knows though. I hope he's not done for good.

I don't think It's about money. From what I've seen and heard, the guy is swimming in cash.

UFC's Dana White told SportsCenter that McGregor was pulled from the event because he would not attend promotional events. Earlier on Tuesday, McGregor tweeted, "I have decided to retire young."

He's swimming in cash but spends it like crazy. The dude loves money and this upcoming event would have been his biggest payday yet. I don't buy Dana's explanation - seems like there's more to the story.

Well looks like he's not retiring after all. Here's a lengthy response by him. I didn't bother reading it all cuz....well...I don't really care if he retires or not.

I am just trying to do my job and fight here.
I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.
I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.
There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.

I am still ready to go for UFC 200.
I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.
If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.
For the record also -
For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -
I AM NOT RETIRED.
