Cope will drive for BAM at Michigan

COPE TO RACE AT MICHIGAN: Winston Cup veteran Derrike Cope will drive the BAM Racing # 49 Dodge with sponsorship featuring the rock band Poison at Michigan International Speedway.

The sponsorship is an interesting deal. Hope they get some $$. Neither Shawna nor Ron could get much done in this car, not sure that Derrike is vast improvement for the team. IMO
 
I think Larry Mac said it best: "Nobody can race Derrick Cope."
 
What I don't get is why don't they just tell Shawna she's out of a ride. And how come Derrike Cope isn't racing with his team this week, is the #49 team really that much better???
 
Derrike Removed his Entry on Monday...Im not sure if he might have been paid to drive for BAM or He wasnt very confident about his car and thought he had better chances with BAM. But I do see that the sponsor on his 37 is on the 49 because he is the driver.
 
I am begining to not like the BAM team I pull for all the under dogs and that team is by far he biggest under dog but the way they have trated Shawna i don't think thats right. Bam just tried to use Shawna to get attenion to the team and a sponcer to the team. I hope a good team will give her a shot at a full time ride Cup or BGN.
That would be cool to have 2 good female drivers in the BGN next year thats if both Shawna and Sarah get in a car.
 
This is definately not helping her chances for ROTY. Maybe she can stay under the 7 race limit (not sure if possible). I think she should go to busch and get some seat time, as they say.

Not many other drivers go directly to playing with the big boys.

BAM used Shawna to get into NASCAR in order to give the "politically correct" angle a try........it doesn't appear it worked with us redneck fans. I don't feel sorry for Shawna.......she knew up front what was up with BAM and she jumped at it. She needs more experience.......be it Busch, Arca or just plain go carts. She just in is not up to the challenge.
 
Not Only Is Shawna Not up to the Challenge but that BAM car isnt really either. Ron Hornaday couldnt qualify it at Chicago or at Indy. Its not just the driver (shawna or whoever it might be) but it is the car too. They might need to go to Busch where they could be a little more competitive with the field.
 
Derrike Cope is in the car for qualifying today. Sunday may not be an issue!!:)
 
Cope got the car in the field so he will race on Sunday. No one else has really shown an ability to take this ride anywhere once the race starts. Will be interesting to follow Derrikes's progress.
 
Well If you count hanging in the back of the pack all day as progress then yeah I'll keep an eye on it. There is just no way that BAM can be even a little competive.
 
I've seen the car make the field on time before, that's not real surprise. Let's see it race. Good luck Cope.
