corneal abrasion

I had a slight discomfort in my right eye this morning on the way home from the store. When I got home I looked in the mirror a saw that I had a blister on my eye. My wife decided it was best to go have it looked at so i went to the ER. I spent 3 and 1/2 hours waiting before I could be seen. They were pretty busy. While I was waiting it popped. When they finally saw me, they put some kind of numbing drops in my eye along with a dye and what seemed like half a bottle of saline. They said I had a slight tear in the clear front part of the eye or the cornea and gave me some antibiotic eyedrops and had instructed me to see a specialist. It is starting to feel better now but there for a while, I couldn't keep my eye open.

Hope you feel better soon, racer. Once those numbing drops wear off, that eye is going to hurt. If you didn't get a prescription for more drops, keep your eye shut and wear a patch. You will need to get to a specialist as soon as possible to prevent further corneal tearing. Best of luck...keep us posted as to your progress.

I scratched my cornea several years ago....I was in some woods and a tree limb got caught between my eye and my sunglasses. I didn't even know that I did it until later that night. It hit all of a sudden and I had to go to the emergency room. Probably the most pain I have ever experianced.

Another thing racer, I don't know where you live, but stay out of high elevations. About two or three weeks after I injured my eye, and I though everthing was doing well with it, I went to Aspen, CO. After the first day, my eye began to water really bad then finally began to hurt again. Another trip tp the E.R. and I found out that the higher elevation caused my eye to get irritated again...

Best of luck to you...
