COT

You guys have more knowledge than me with this so I was wanting to know.

1. Forget the fact that Hendrick has the cot figured out but do you guys think that it has made for more exciting racing? I don't

2. Is the COT the same body for all the manufacturers? Basically what differentiates a Ford from Chevy etc., as far as the COT goes?

actually, i think thst is in fact the only difference that i can see, because the upper opening is smaller on chevy's than on fords, toyota's is kinda in the middle, and dodge's is just plum unique. But i think everythign else is just part of the common "IROC-esque" template system.

I thought the rear decks were different and the entire front clip, but i could be wrong. As far as the racing being better, i have yet to see it. When they run on a track like Lowes and there is no aero push or they can pass at will then i will be convinced that the COT is a better car. So far the entire season hasn't had very many races if any were there was actually some good racing, outside of the manufactured yellows to create "great" finishes.

Y'all must not be watching Inside Nextel Cup. Dave and the guys would heartily disagree with you. Mikey praised the racing at Richmond to no end. The fact that the cars are going slower he said is making for more competition. The quals are closer than ever before. The race is in the hands of the driver.
I think some of you don't like the COT because at this point Hendrick cars are winning. This was addressed last night as well. They all feel that eventually everyone else will catch up with them.
Change is not always bad. Cept when you got a dirty diaper...

BP I agree. But it doesn't matter what the changes are, people just don't like to see a change, in anything in life. When and if they go totally with the COT, that will be the only racing you will see in the Cup series. People will either get used to it or will continue to gripe until they are gone. We've seen this before when the cup cars were downsized, when they went to radial tires etc. Supposedly, the COT cars are more like the showroom cars than any have been in a very long time. However, with the front splitter and the rear wing, and of course the common templates, they all look the same.

I think that this car does put the racing back into the hands of the drivers and once the teams get the cars figured out, we'll see some very good racing.

It was interesting last night on INC when Mikey pointed to the pic on the wall (see he's not as dumb as some people would have you think) of the 48 and 5 with their splitters glued to the track. He said they run well because the splitter stays like that all around the track. And, in that NASCAR regulates the shocks, springs, etc. it was in the engineering. Something they found that the other teams just haven't got down yet.

...

Remember how RCR and DEI used to be so far ahead on restrictor plate racing and then everyone else started catching up. HMS just got a jump on this one.

I agree. The biggest reason they came up with this design was to get rid of the aero dependent cars we've had the last 10 years or so. The proof will be in the pudding at places like Charlotte, Atlanta, Texas.

A couple of races have been good: Martinsville and Phoenix. Bristol was bad until the last 50 laps. But Bristol has been like that in recent years. The Richmond race was interesting from all the complaining, it overshadowed the racing itself if you watched it on TV.

The COT is junk, so far. NO driver likes them. Speeds are down. Guys are having brake problems because of the lack of air through the brake ducts.
They need to address the problems with this car and there are a lot of problems.
Even DW said that several times during the Richmond race he thought the caution was out because the cars were going so slow through the center off.
COT means slower lap times and in my opinion more wrecks.

Still yet to be proven they haven't raced on a 1.5 or a plate track yet. If the racing is better on those types of tracks then i will be a believer that this car is better.

I hope the racing is better on a bigger track. So far I hate it and I like the Hendrick teams, so it has nothing to do with that.

I like short tracks but to I like them better with the old car. The cot just has not done it for me.
