Duke grad builds beer tossing fridge
Contraption can launch 10 cans before needing a reload

Updated: 7:50 a.m. CT March 8, 2007
RALEIGH, N.C. - When John Cornwell graduated from Duke University last year, he landed a job as software engineer in Atlanta but soon found himself longing for his college lifestyle. So the engineering graduate built himself a reminder of life on campus: a refrigerator that can toss a can of beer to his couch with the click of a remote control.

thats why all the smart kids go to private schools.lol. to make lazy peoples lives better and to make them even lazier.lol.

The kid's a moron. Anyone with half a brain knows you don't throw a beer. Now you'll have to wait 5 minutes for it to settle before you open it, and that throws off the temp curve. So much for getting the beer quick without any effort.

:beerbang: :beerbang: Keep a small "dorm" size fridge next to the Lazyboy and use the thing as an end table! :beerbang: :beerbang:

Prof, you gotta remember that this guy is still just a kid...22. He said that as long as you used soft hands when you caught the beer, it would be okay. Sides, the kid only used it for canned beer and who drinks that stuff? Oh yeah, 22 year old kids who have just gotten outta college. Don't you remember what it was like at that age? El cheapo beer something like Budweiser.

As I type, I'm drinking a bottle of a new brew for me, Smithwick's Irish Ale imported and brewed by Guiness. If that dude were to try to throw a bottle of this, it would surely hit him in the head and knock some sense into it. :beerbang:

I grew up in Canada, Buck. We were taught in kindergarden to respect the beer. That, and that Bud was something used for the house plants when they were looking droopy. It was something of a shock to me to find out that people were actually drinking it.

Well I must confess that even with my antipathy towards a certain driver I do drink Bud. In fact at the start of college football season I'll buy a case. That not only sees me thru the season but I still have 5 or 6 in the fridge that I'll finish off a Lowe's in May.
And, no I wasn't always such a lightweight...
