Could we ever have an all Nascar network?

I was just passing ESPN Classic and they are showing a ton of old Daytona 500 races. It got me thinking why Nascar hasn't tried to start it's on network. It's not like they don't have enough old races to fill time. I know we've mentioned this before but it got me thinking seeing all these old races.

I wish
They could show all type of races from Local Dirt to Outlaws That would be great

I think that they've been heading in that direction for some time. I really think that they wanted to get a grasp on the social media as well which they have. Last fall NASCAR hired several mid-level executives for it's communications division. One of the benefits that seems to be coming out of this is that all races will now be legally broadcast over the internet for the first time starting this season. I think that there's some good stuff ahead. I can't wait.

dp will the internet broadcast be on nascar.com
if not where

If NASCAR started their own network, I wouldn't count on them airing anything except the big three. NASCAR won't allow television broadcasts of their own late model races, why would they televise World of Outlaws.

TV won't be streamed online until 2013 at the earliest. The Turner deal with nascar.com ends this year.

If we only had a channel like that. (think Speed)

Speed airs too much crap that has nothing to do with racing.

Amen. They have barely any good original shows. Stuntbusters is the only one I actually watch every time and I'll watch car warriors here and there. The rest is crap though.

I don't know why they don't show more old races on Speed. They can't possibly get any worse ratings then 20 episodes of pimp my ride in a row.

Their ratings couldn't possibly get any worse, period. Channels I don't even have access to get higher ratings on a regular basis than SPEED does.

I have wondered for years why NASCAR didn't have a channel. I think it would fill a void, especially in the deep of winter.

If I were in charge of programming and had unlimited funds.....

Normal weekend.

Friday Schedule
  • Live from the track @ 9:00am when the garage opens.
  • Coverage from the media room with the am driver interviews.
  • Coverage of practice sessions.
  • Recap and interviews leading up to qualifying.
  • Coverage of qualifying session.
  • Nationwide/Truck coverage of the race.
  • Live end of day recap coverage from the track, like Trackside
Saturday Schedule
  • Live from the track for practice sessions.
  • Nationwide/Truck coverage of the race.
  • Live end of day recap coverage.
Sunday Schedule
  • Live coverage @ the track starting with the drivers meeting through the pre-race.
  • Cup coverage of the race.
  • Post-race coverage including interviews from the media center.
  • Live end of day recap coverage.
Monday - Thursday
  • Replays of the past weekends races for the entire NASCAR series.
  • Classic rewinds of races for the upcoming weekend.
  • Nightly show covering the days news.
  • Weekly 30 minute in-depth 'week in the life' of someone involved in the sport. It could anyone from a driver to the guy that has to sweep the floors @ HMS. Maybe the act of sweeping won't be so exciting but other goings on around the shop may be interesting?
  • Simulcast of periods SIRIUS NASCAR Radio's daily broadcast schedule. Similar to what they do with Dan Patrick, ESPN.
  • There would have to be replay of many of these things as it can't be live 24/7.
Just some of my ideas on this topic. Feel free to add to or flame away.

Seems like alot of equipment for broadcasting... Probably need someone to haul all that stuff around the country....Hmmmm....Just a thought.

I would love to see a garage cam available on the internet.
They used to have four cams set up every weekend. I think they reduced that to one a couple years ago. I don't know if they have any this year.

You have just been hired to do just that in my fantasy broadcasting world. When can you start?

I hope not. Nascar is more about money than nurturing racing. The souless enterprise doesn't need a bigger footprint.

Jf they suceeded every racing door and avenue would have to utilize their toll gate.

Want to know what they think of great drivers, they excluded Pearson from the first HoF class to insure two Frances (the company brand) went in first.

The parasites would also dump Darlington for a race in ScrewUstan if there was more money to be made.

I would rather see someone that loved racing first and foremost covering the races.

He wasn't excluded from the first class. He didn't get the votes. He was one of 25 nominees for those first five positions.

The HOF's inductees are determined by the Voting Panel, which has 50 members -- the entire Nominating Committee, 14 media members, four manufacturer representatives and nine retired competitors (drivers, owners, crew chiefs -- three each) and two recognized industry leaders. In addition, the fan vote results in the Voting Panel's 51st and final ballot.

I don't think there's some big conspiracy going on.

It wouldn't make much sense to nominate hall of famers and leave out the two people most responsible for having a racing series popular enough for induction to matter as much as it does. I do feel that expanding the first 2 or 3 classes would have avoided some of these problems and made the HoF more interesting for early visitors.

I have not seen any France tee shirt sells, or met any driver yet that claimed to be inspired or ever turned on to race by a pencil pusher.

Bill Sr did a lot and his first class entry did not bother me, but two? no way. Leaving out maybe the best driver, most definitely one the top three, would not have happened without a France brown nosing system (the initial 5 entries doesn't need a flow chart or diagram to grasp either).

And they will put the sorry sack Brian in there at the first opportunity. They will also put someone in like M.Waltip one day because he hiccoups the France gas. Every body knows the way the dog and pony show works.

Thats why the Nascar juggernaut getting a network would be self serving venture, and the service wouldn't be to racing.
Racing and great ones like Pearson made France, not the other way around. It is just the tool.

Nascar cup runs Saturday night shows that screw the short tracks too. Obviously Nascar has been good for oval track racing in America, but they have a lot of warts, and they should not be above an occasional critical analysis.

I don't rant against them everyday.
