COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Cracker Barrel restaurants says it's "putting out a wide net" as it investigates a possible case of food tampering.
A woman in South Carolina says she cut her mouth on a piece of metal embedded in a hamburger patty. The 56-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, over the weekend bleeding from her mouth. The restaurant manager says he found part of a razor blade in a half-eaten hamburger on her plate.
The chain says it removed burgers produced on or about that date from all of its more than 300 restaurants.
The Kansas-based hamburger supplier is also investigating. A spokesman says "no one should be jumping to conclusions."
The woman and her husband are retirees. The man says they eat at Cracker Barrel two or three times a week and will continue to do so because it's one of their favorite places.
