I record every race in case I need to review anything.
After extensive race footage review, as well as review from the #48 in-car-camera, I have found the cause of the wreck on lap 20, involving several of the Chase contenders.
It seems on lap 19, something spooked Jimmie Johnson, causing him to drop his purse, which became lodged under and behind his brake pedal, thus interfering his ability to keep off of the #38 car in the corner.
Just figgered I'd share.

Bwahaha.... I thought it was his eye liner he was reaching for....

..Bobby's driver has never screwed up, everyone. Let's just be clear on that. =)

Well there is screwing up and then there's pulling a Johnson. The hack screws up every time he goes to Talladega. No excuse for his driving today, or in the spring, or last fall, etc.

i did not like todays race
the people i was cheering for got wrecked or lost an engin
+ i hate dj

No need to use the entire quote but what is surprisingly, this post reminds me of third grade humor.
Unless I am mistaken, Racing Forums is an adult forum that engages in mature discussion on NASCAR racing or topics on current events.

Perhaps in the future, all discussions could remain on a mature level rather than the posting of juvenile bathroom humor.

Actually the "third grade humor" is Jimmie Johnson, himself. He acts like a spoiled little tattle-tale kid that does no wrong. NEVER owning up to his own screw ups.
"Perhaps" if he acted more like a mature adult we could speak of him as such.

It's Ok Bobby some of us found it funny. A little humor don't hurt nobody. Where the bathroom stuff came from I have no idea at all! Was there something deleted I did not see? If nothing was deleted where is anybody's mind that can make bathroom humor out of your post..

Even though I don't really root for JJ, I have to respect his input on this whole thing, and that is until you are actually out there in those cars you can't really form a real good opinion.

I have never raced a car in my life, nor do I claim to know a single damn thing about racing them...but I've played a crap load of nascar sim games. When you're in the draft at a plate track, a hair trigger reaction to anything will result in a big wreck. I think it was funny for people to rag on JJ or RN. I mean, Riggs reacted to it best and he's the one that went for the biggest ride. It's plate racing, it's stupid. It would seem that a stupid race would merit a stupid post.

Because we all know playing a "....crap load of nascar sim games.." makes you an expert.

Oh boy don't get me started on this restrictor plate racing BS, once again we had 2 huge wrecks, lucky no one got killed...seriously. The second wreck was very violent, if it weren't for the safety improvements over the past 4 years i'm sure there would have been some injuries. Anyway getting back to the point, all this crap could have been avoided in the first place by not having plates. Since i joined this forum many of you have read my rants about my distaste for plate racing. Once again i watched today with a foul taste in my mouth, as i saw cars flipping and pinballing across the track. I'm old enough to remember CooCoo Marlin,Yarborough, Petty, Pearson , and all the rest of the Gang racing Dega when it was racing!!!! This BS they call plate racing is a fabrication by Nascar to attract more fans, it isn't racing in the true sense. What we see today at Dega and Daytona is just a SHOW. When are the Drivers going to wake up and put an end to this crap??? They should form a union just like in the rest of professional sports and demand that Nascar go back to true racing on these tracks or not race on them at all!!!!

And, this from someone who was a little closer to the action than ANY of us:
"It was just hard racing right there," Earnhardt Jr. said "We're all together, so it's hard to miss something when we're going so fast. That was an accident, and accidents happen."

The WHOLE article if you haven't read it already

And, then there's THIS too:
"No idea what happened," Earnhardt said. "They checked up for something. I think [Johnson] and [Sadler] got together and had to slow down. We were all real tight there together, and I hit [Johnson].

Another WHOLE article if you haven't read this one either

Amen.

Unfortunately NASCAR and others have the drivers convinced the sport would go on without them.

It would - but it'd be like 'strike-football' in the 80's. A horrible product, and after a season of terrible ratings, and France family toy checks bouncing, the drivers we know and love would return. Then, the fans, the drivers, and dare I say it; the officials would get the product we want. The only unhappy folks would be the France's themselves, having finally had their Monarchy of stock-car racing overthrown.

Can you even imagine Gordon (Robbie and Jeff), Stewart, Jarrett, Junior, The Labontes, and few more walking out? NASCAR would fall to it's knees if they called it's bluff. Surely with names like that we'd also see the like of Khane, Busch (Kyle and Kurt), Biffle, Newman, and other young guns follow suit.

Hell, worst case scenario, we'd have one hell of an ARCA season to watch. =) And would that be so bad? Having a real alternative to NASCAR's silly rules and inconsistency?

Yeh ...i have a feeling that when the new template cars come out with the new engines all of that will change, but until then we have this crap on the plate tracks.

majestyx, they don't want to hear any of that. Even if we had conclusive evidence that there was little to nothing Jimmie could do - he's Jeff Gordon by proxy in the Chase; they all hate him. They're all drinking the Haterade and they're looking for anything at all to mock him and down him. Whether it's a shock set-up that even NASCAR and their anal-retentiveness deems as a non-penalty, or making a mistake like every one of their drivers have yet they choose to hop all over him.

Should Jimmie own up to screwing up today, yeah he should, because then at least all the haters would have to say what they really mean, and not hide behind him 'not taking responsibility'.

Johnson learned to whine and complain from the best and now whining about people not agreeing with him blaming someone else litters the board.

What a surprise.

If it is the fault of plates how did those drivers out front manage to put on that show in the closing laps without wrecking?

It was Johnsons fault and the fact that he wont admit it and his fans don't like it doesn't change that.

We all know that? Because I (the person who wrote that) actually said that I don't claim to know a single damn thing about racing cars. So, I'm not sure where you got the idea that I think I'm an expert, but if you need me to rephrase my comment in a simpler way to get my point across, I'm sure I can give it my best effort.

It's one thing for Jimmie to make a mistake, but another entirely for him to cause multi-car wrecks EVERY TIME he drives at Talladega.

"I'll take responsibility. It's not a big deal to me. I can accept that." - Jimmie Johnson on the wreck sunday

As I've said in every other thread; I'm sure it's not good enough.

Sunday at Kansas, all the Haterade's free, on me. =)

Seems that this talk just won't go away and I know how y'all feel. Believe me, I do. I like racing and I mean racing, as much as the other avid fans, but I also know one thing that is cogent about the whole mess, NASCAR is the only game in town that can be seen on regular TV. When I was growing up out in Oklahoma, it was a treat now and then to listen to NASCAR on the radio and that didn't happen but about once a year, if that. When ESPN began televising the races more and more, I was in heaven. All the while, NASCAR was slowly making changes to the game and we all know where that went. Then we got this new TV package. The teams got better and we had more millionaire drivers. Sponsors began to really take the reigns of the sport and since they control the money, it's only normal that the sanctioning body would take care of them first. But the fans keep on coming anyway so they were killing two birds with one stone. While those of us where have been fans for years and years made our protests, it went on deaf ears. As I've said before, we the fans, have little control as to what is going on in the sport these days unless we act in unison and stop attending or watching the races. Anyone believe that will happen? Didn't think so. Drivers unionizing? You've got to be kidding. Most of these guys are so vain that they have a hard time getting their helmets on over their egos. Besides, if nine of the "chase" drivers boycotted, that tenth driver would sure make up a lot of points, and with what is at stake at the end of the season, there'd be more than one crossing that picket line. And, there are plenty of guys waiting in the wings to take their places and while yes, it might be more like a glorified ARCA race, maybe that would be better in the long run.

This sport would be fine to me if all I could see are local races, but that isn't all we have. I'd love to be able to see all the ARCA races and the Hooter's Pro Cup races, and all the rest of those stock car races, but they aren't on TV. So we can either take what we've got, or leave it.

Wow, I'm really impressed.......

Usually its Jr who gets the posters/lurkers/trolls with less than 20 posts to come out with an analysis of who caused the problem and how to fix it.

I give them about another three days and they will return from whence they came...
