Craven, sponsor re-up with No. 32 team
By DAVID POOLE
The Charlotte Observer

PPI Motorsports has extended its contracts with driver Ricky Craven and primary sponsor Tide through the 2006 season, the team announced Saturday.

"There is no doubt Ricky Craven has helped bring both success and stability to our relatively young NASCAR program," said Cal Wells, the team owner.

"Ricky's experience and ability have contributed greatly to the progress we've made as a single-car team."

Craven's down-to-the-wire victory over Kurt Busch at Darlington in March is the only race won by a single-car Winston Cup team this season.

Craven got his first career win in the team's car in October 2001 at Martinsville, which is the next race on the schedule following Saturday night's UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tide Extends Sponsorship of PPI Motorsports' #32 Tide Pontiac Through 2006

CONCORD, NC - Longtime NASCAR Winston Cup Series primary sponsor Tide has extended its sponsorship of the #32 Tide Pontiac fielded by PPI Motorsports through 2006. Tide representatives made the announcement today during a team gathering at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.

Downy has also extended its commitment to PPI Motorsports with a renewal of its longtime associate sponsorship of the Tide Racing Program, and 2004 marks the introduction of a new Procter & Gamble brand to the PPI Motorsports stable: Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash.

"We are proud to continue our partnership with PPI Motorsports through 2006," said Julie Woffington, Procter & Gamble's Tide Brand Manager. "Tide's relationship with the team, its partners, Ricky Craven, and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series has been extremely rewarding both on and off the track. We're looking forward to continuing that relationship alongside Downy and Mr. Clean AutoDry in the years to come."

Tide, the number-one selling detergent in America and a Procter & Gamble staple since 1946, is currently in its 17th year of primary sponsorship in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Since teaming with PPI Motorsports in 2000, Tide has notched two race wins (Martinsville 2001 and Darlington 2002), three pole positions, 10 top fives and 25 top tens. Tide's winning tradition includes a total of 20 NASCAR Winston Cup Series victories to date, including the 1989 Daytona 500 and the 1997 Brickyard 400.

Downy, America's biggest-selling brand of fabric softener, has been an associate sponsor of the Tide Racing program since 1995. Combined with Tide, the two brands have built a strong retail-based program centered on their motorsports partnership that has brought success to both products in the motorsports marketplace.

Newly-launched Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash, a revolutionary car care system that gives you a spot free clean and shine with no need to hand dry, is currently being introduced to NASCAR through a five-race NASCAR Busch Series program. The brand's blue and green logo will appear on the #32 Tide Pontiac beginning next February at Daytona.
