Credit card statement

Good idea to look real close to the due date. I've noticed the due date creeping back on my Cap 1 card the past couple of months. I do pay by bill pay thru my credit onion :)D) well before the due date, and no I'm not one of those who preaches they pay in full every month,,,chit happens.

But if you're acustomed to paying on a certain date and don't realize the due date being moved up they're gonna get ya.

I call it my credit onion because when I see the interest rate they now pay on my cd's and savings I cry.

FWIW, YMMV, No Andy's were used in testing;)

What is this credit card thing you are talking about? I'm a cash man myself.

Nah when you got my money you don't need a card. :D

I used to play the card game and pay in full every month but why complicate things. I now use my Debit Card for my around town transactions and I set my Credit Union account up for BillPay for those accounts that don't do draft.

Check your credit score...

When mom and I set up our accounts at the nearby CU, I have 2 student loans and she pays all her CC bills twice a month. My credit score is only 30 points below hers, because she has no credit on those cards since she pays them off. Chase has her at 54% interest. She rotates charging between the 3 cards so none actually sit dormant, but since none actually carry a charge, there's no credit. so the CU person told us. We're both in the 700 bracket.

I pay some of mine every month. I stoped using it tho, cause i owe $1,500 on it. I pay more then the min tho, But i need a job to get that sucker paid off.

Mine due on the 22nd of the month most of the time.

;)

AZZES got me like that. That pissed me off 2 months in a row. each month moved it up 3 days

Haven't notice my date changing but I keep a close eye on it all the time.

When you charge $5,000 to $9,000 a month, there is no way I am going to pay the interest on that.

It gets paid in full every month a week before the due date if possible.

Please tell me that's a mistake, 54%?

Anything is possible. One of my CC was going to jack me up to 32%. I paid them off and cancelled the card. Hadn't used it in over 8 months and kept it open just to have it...

How could you keep it open if you cancelled it? Just asking a question.

Many card companies are based in states that don't have laws regulating usury, in other words ultra high interest rates. In RI it's 21% max.

They also have a strong lobby in congress. If you filed bankruptcy years ago cc debt was wiped out, now congress has rewritten the law so now you still owe.

CC companies need to be taken to the woodshed. They'll blanket a college campus offering 0% for a year with $3,000 and up credit limits. Half these kids don't even have jobs! Do blanket mailings with "You're Approved" flyers in low income neighborhoods.

Then when the card holder defaults they raiseour rates to cover the loss caused by their greed. Win-win for them, lose-lose for the consumer.

We've been using our debit cards more and more and credit cards less. If there was a way for us to completely eliminate our cc I'd do it.

But yet it seems you are advocating that everyone should have credit card. Especially when it looks like you chastise me, even if it was in jest, for not having one. I long ago saw the pitfalls that having credit cards would lead a person in to and decided not to play their game. As to my credit score, that really isn't something I worry about. Like I said most people still accept cash and those who don't must not want my business. When I moved to the big city in '05 and bought a home financing was the least of my worries. What was disarming is that I couldn't find a lender that would go with a 10 year loan. The shortest I could find was a 15 year fixed but it least it has no pre-payment penalties so I should have it paid off by the end of 2012.

Debt is seldom your friend.

I have a BofA card that's coming in handy right now. We have a house in AL that my husband is up-dating to sell. It's easy for him to keep track of how much we're spending by using the card.

Other than that 1 card --- if I don't have the money in the bank, I don't need to buy it.

I have no problem with using a CC for legitimate purchases as long as it gets paid off promtly. Charging $1,000 and paying the $20 minimum amount each month isn't the way to go.

It wasn't all that long ago a cc was needed to rent a car, book a flight or hotel etc. A debit card can do all that now. I had a credit card that gave me 10% back on gas purchases from AAA, they eliminated that perk and I eliminated that card.:D

I still use a cc for purchases mostly from suppliers that are out of state, it offers me slightly more protection should there be a dispute. If I used my debit card I'd still have protection but those funds are essentially frozen until the dispute is settled. Being the one man band business that I am there are times I can't afford to have funds tied up.

It all boils down that credit and cc's are good if used properly. If not they can destroy you for many years. Too bad our schools don't teach that.

I look upon the minimum as a suggestion, then usually multiply it by 10. :D

As far as the due date changing, I get the bill one day, it goes out the next, if not that very day.

I'm learning from Dave Ramsey these days and am cutting up all my CCs and trying to get debt free. The plastic is good, but only if you like debt. I've been in debt now since 1972 formerly, but if you count the NCO club in the Air Force, you can go back a couple of more years. (You could borrow club chips up to 40 dollars per pay week, but it had to be paid for on payday.)

Love em!!

We use credit cards for EVERYTHING! We hardly carry any money at all. Supper out...on a card! Grocerys...on a card! Home depot...on a card! Shoes, clothing...on a card! Anything and everything...even eBay...on a card.
When the statements come in...write a check! Paid in full for the month.
Every January DISCOVER sends us $600 or $800 bucks back..
We don't leave home without it. AND never an interest payment.
PLUS our family has had bad things happen with debit cards...so we have never had one of those.
Betsy;)

yea, my dad has an Am Ex personal business card that he uses for all the cash back perks.

and yes, my mom's chase card really is fifty-four percent.

Your Mom needs to find another card and transfer the balance. Or take out a personal loan and pay it off. Or visit a loan shark in the seedy part of town!

I've heard of rates as high as 29.9% but that 54% really stuns me. :eek2:Really.

You talk to your Dad yet over what I had said?

she pays all the cards off twice a month to eliminate any chance of that assinine interest rate...

How could you keep it open if you cancelled it? Just asking a question.

I closed it. I first got it just to have a CC. Then the interest was 'only' 9.9. When they decided to raise the rate, I cancelled. I've got a debit card, and the AAFES 'Star card', so I didn't need to keep a loan shark in my wallet...

I cancelled all but one of my CCs due to the fact they were all playing around with the ibnterest rates before the new laws change things next year. And yes watch your due dates, once you are late they will jack up your rate over 20%. One card is enough, can't understand for the life of me how people deal with having 10 or more, that is sure to lead you into trouble.
