supposedly a crew chief swap has been discussed and is imminent between the #11 and #20 Joe Gibbs Racing teams. The swap would send #11-Denny Hamlin's crew chief Mike Ford to #20-Joey Logano with Logano's crew chief Greg Zippadelli to the #11 garage.
2011 has been a dismal year for Hamlin having scored just one top-10 finish through the first eight-races of the season. Logano is 66-points out of a playoff spot in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup. Expect to see the change within the next few weeks if not sooner.

I wonder if the same people who *****ed about the Pit Crew changes between #24 and #48 will also ***** about this.

Pit crew change in race does not equal crew chief change. Two vastily different things.

Ehh it's still a change. Everyone acted like Chad Knaus violated some great grand rule about team loyalty, so let's see if #20 and #11 violated the "team loyalty" rule with the Crew Chief change.

With all due respect what does one have to do with the other? It's a crew chief change not an entire pit crew change in the middle of a race. The real question here is will Denny be able to work with Zippy? Greg seems to be a pretty fired up guy as well if you remember how he and Tony were talking to eachother on the radio before smoke left.

Probably what Hamlin needs

neither team is doing that great so i don't see a downside for anyone. sometimes change is good. i think hamlin/zippy will benefit the most from the switch.

Agreed. Might as well make the switch early in the season before it's too late.

I called this one a week or so ago, ofcourse I didn't see the Hamlin/Ford thing coming.

Apples and oranges. Changing crews in the middle of the race is a lot different than changing crew chiefs in the middle of the season.

UPDATE: JGR spokesman says that reports of crew chief shuffle for Hamlin and Logano are false.

But we'll see. Things have been denied before only to happen.

My feelings toward the crew change in the middle of the race was you should stay with the party that brung ya. I know that's how the teams ran all the decades before this one felt. That where the term "team" comes from.
