DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (Ticker) - Nextel Cup crew chiefs Jimmy Fennig and Robby Reiser were fined $1,000 each by NASCAR on Thursday for identical infractions in different races.
Fennig, the crew chief for Kurt Busch, was fined for a fuel cell spacer infraction in Busch's Ford Taurus in Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
Busch won the race, moving into a tie with Dale Earnhardt Jr. atop the Nextel Cup standings with nine races remaining.
Reiser, the crew chief for Matt Kenseth, was fined for the same infraction in the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway on September 10. Kenseth started 16th and finished 28th.
The defending Winston Cup champion, Kenseth is fourth in the standings, 10 points off the pace.
