Crown Royal allowed to sponsor #99 in 2005? Jack Roush will likely get that $15 million a year Crown Royal sponsorship for [#99] Carl Edwards, according to NASCAR sources.(Winston Salem Journal)..

Yes Mike wrote this..but tell me your opinion on having this type of sponsor in today's NASCAR.

my opinion? I think sponsors like that should be allowed...alcohol companies are already allowed to sponsor cars and always have been, heck, tobacco companies sponsored and still sponsor cars and used to sponsor the entire organization. I wonder if the question is really a matter of how these products are considered...you know, it seems like beer and liquor are really in the same boat...of course a lot of people have that idea in their heads that "beer ain't drinkin'"; however, what bothers me the most is that 40 kinds of hell are being raised about this issue with NASCAR and it seems like no one pays any attention to other sponsors like Domino's Pizza (which makes people fat) coke and pepsi and mountain dew (which also make people fat and addicted to caffeine) viagra (which does the obvious) Sony (which probably is foreign in some way) subway (which claims to be healthy) Smirnoff Ice (which promotes alcoholism amongst women) Stacker 2 (which used to contain banned substances and promotes unhealthy weight loss) AOL (which produces loads of waste with their mailings) M&Ms (which are full of sugar) Betty Crocker ( don't get me started) the list goes on...basically, when you come right down to it, almost all of the sponsors are advertising some type of "vice"...if we have beer cars we might as well have liquor cars...I guess some people worry about their kids and all, but if they admire Dale Jr and thus think Bud is cool, then they might as well admire Carl Edwards and think Crown Royal is cool...and why not have Edwards become a Coke driver too, thus making the obvious cross sponsorship deal of Crown n Coke...in fact, I'm going to go have a "Carl Edwards Special" right now.

Nice!!

Well, I guess that leaves Morgan Shepherd's sponsor as the only one who doesn't lead one down the road to Hell.

mulhurn is an idiot and will trust this story when it's by another writer

 Steve, and when I see an "OFFICIAL" announcement, I'll believe it!

Mulhern is little more than a rumor monger!

that's what I thought we were doing...you even gave the disclaimer at the start....I guess bashing Mulhern doesn't count

Personally, I don't have a problem with it. Winston Cup didn't make me want to smoke Winston, Budwieser Chevrolet doesn't make me want to drink Budwieser, and so on. I just think there may have been something with the timing of this sponsor and Jeff Burton. Seems fishy to me Rousch says he has a full time sponsor the week Jeff Burton left. But hey, I don't want to be labeled a conspiracy theorist.

ohh mannn, I need a drink now!

Question: Wasn't this already tried when Burton was in the car and it was rejected; but now it's o.k.? conspirancy theory...

Oh my goodness! Rumours and we are trying to make
a "conspiracy" out of them?????   :XXROFL: :XXROFL:

Oh, what is this thread coming to??? LOL

Yes, I too, will NOT believe it till I see it on the #99 car!

conspiracy in that NASCAR DID give the okay, but Roush wanted Edwards in the car and Burton OUT of the car...I'm assuming.

Sorry, but :bslfag:

Well, I for one am glad that the powers that be ruling NASCAR don't do like those idiots that own the Daytona Speedway and allow hard liquor to be displayed at the races.

Oh, and for those that missed the race results:

Crown Royal IROC, Race One, Daytona Beach
1. Ryan Newman (NASCAR Nextel Cup)
2. Kurt Busch (NASCAR Nextel Cup)
3. Matt Kenseth (NASCAR Nextel Cup)
4. Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR Nextel Cup)
5. Steve Kinser (World of Outlaws)
6. Helio Castroneves (Indy Racing League)
7. Kevin Harvick (NASCAR Nextel Cup)
8. Scott Dixon (Indy Racing League)
9. Scott Sharp (Indy Racing League)
10. Travis Kvapil (NASCAR Craftsman Trucks)
