Cup guys in Busch?

What do you think of the Winston Cup guys running in the Busch races? I don't think it is fair to either the other Cup teams OR to the other Busch series guys. I am not against letting the WC guys run that series, BUT I think they should only be allowed to run ONE series per weekend... You can choose to run Cup or Busch...

What do you think?

I just read that Cup guys have won all of the Busch races so far this year.

I think when it bothers me the most is when you have several Cup guys qualify, taking away spots for for some potientally good drivers who are trying to start a career in the Busch Series. If you are an accomplished Cup driver stay in Cup.

It's becoming a huge problem that undermines the entire reason for having the Busch Series. Supposedly it's where up and coming drivers learn the ropes and find success. They can attract sponsors and Cup owners interested in bringing them up to the Winston Cup level. But all you see on TV are the Cup guys. Vickers has had more TV time from the botched call than all the Busch regulars combined this season.

I've noticed the number of cars for the Busch races have gone down as sponsors question sinking money into a young driver and not even being seen on TV, even if running in the top 10 or so when Jr and Mikey and Spencer and Park and McMurray and Harvick and Todd Bodine( god of Busch Series this year) and Nemechek and Kenseth are in the race and make up the rest of the top 10.

Some argue that Busch regulars learn from the Cup guys in the races and that it brings people to the sport. I don't buy much of that though. Exactly what can as Busch guy learn from Harvick or waltrip when they are leading the race by 15 seconds and the only time you see them is when they are lapping you.

I had tickets to the Busch race at Bristol( part of the package nowadays), but didn't go because I figured a Cup guy would win the race.

This weekend the Busch guys may get the first win from their own group. They are in Nashville, while the Cup guys are at Martinsville. There are 9 races where Busch races are not the undercard for the Cup races. Those races will tell the tale of who's good in the Busch series.

You are excactly right.I hadn't realized the WC guys had won every BGN race this year.Tha t does make it tough on the regular BGN guys without doubt.

Got pretty mixed feelings about it though...the big-name drivers TOO shine a light on NASCAR's second series.

I would say let the Buschwhackers run but limit their races to five races of their choosing. That way you would still have several Cup drivers at several tracks....but still have the Busch regulars in the limelight most of the time.Limiting the number of WC drivers would also help as would barring any WC driver that has a top ten-point finish from competitng.

Several little ways to make it a bit more 'fair' to the Busch regs.

I think it makes the Busch teams work harder to try to outrun the cupdrivers. And thats good. The down side is like you said. When a number of cup qualify. Then a number of busch teams have to go home.

This has gotin way out of hand.

They need to set a certain limit of races and stick with it, no expeptions.

I personally think the whole busch series would be better if all wc regulars would stay the heck out. JMO

I think that the amount of races the WC guys can drive in should be limited. It would still get people in the seats, but the Busch guys will have a better chance of actually running a race.

I think that the Winston Cup does need to stay out of the Busch. They should make it to where the Cup drivers can only run 3 races per driver.

Have ya ever noticed that probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 80% of the posts about the BGN series are about either the Cup folks in it or about this topic?

Didja ever wonder if maybe that has something to with NASCAR continuing to allow the Cup folks to run?

The BGN series struggles for fans and media attention, and some folks even question its future existence. The CTS struggles even more.

I enjoy both series and hope for their continued existence. If some of the WC drivers running either one helps to promote the series and in turn insure it longevity it is a small price to pay.

get them out of busch they are CUP drivers not busch drivers

I don't mind the Cup drivers being in Busch for a limited amount of races, but a few of them run about 2/3 of the Busch races - last year alone, I know Jeff Green, Jimmy Spencer, and Todd Bodine all did that, and this year, Kevin Harvick, Bodine, and Jamie McMurray are doing it. And that, IMO, is far too many. Here's what I think should happen: since there's a total of 70 races amongst the two series, I think there should be cap put on, where you can't start more than, say, 48 races total among the two series. The drivers can then decide how many in races the feel like running in each series. I think that would be a good compromise of letting the Cup guys in, but reducing the dominance that they have - at least in the win column.
