OH my gosh.. What happened to lil E and smoke..
And of course Mikey did not make the show. Ain't it true that the first one of the top eleven out of the race misses the chase? Or something like that anyway.

This is indeed interesting. Just my opinion, but it appears that the guys who are trying to make the chase only worked on the race setup. So, I don't think the lineup really shows much.

One thing of interest is that the last place guy in qualifying was Ted Christopher. Ted as you might know, mainly races in the NASCAR Whelen Northern Modified Tour and those boys race this past weekend with our southern NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour boys at Martinsville Speedway. Ted's not had a good year in some ways even though he's sitting in second place in the points (prior to the M'ville race). The team he began the year with had major problems with the IRS and forced Ted to find a new ride. To make a long story short, Ted ended up in second place in the race and that sure didn't hurt him in the points race. Don't know whose car Ted attempted to make the Richmond race in, but it's clear that it wasn't anywhere near race ready.

On a side note...the race Grand Marshall at the modified Martinsville race was Geoff Bodine and yes, he was introduced to the public with the name Geoff instead of the Geoffrey that has been used in the past few years.

Mikey's been so busy with the love affair he's got going on with sponsers, he forgot to bring a race car to the track.;)

On the other hand it may be because Tony wrecked his primary car in practice and the back-up is not as good. The others that are trying to make the chase qualified very well, Martin, Burton, Gordon, Busch, etc.

The Track Smack article raised the issue that there was a real possiblity that Tony might miss the chase... Looks like he really does have his work cut out for him...

...but Tony always seems pull something outta his hoo-haw... should be interesting to watch anyway.

He is in a backup car and has to pick it up tonight if he expects ot make the Chase.

Tony does do good here, in fact, on September 11, 1999, Tony Stewart scored his first NASCAR Winston Cup victory at Richmond.

I wonder how many races Toyota will allow Mikey not to qualify for before they replace him.

that will be mikey's team and toyota has nothing to do with replacing him, now the correct thing to say is, how long will his sponsor's stick with him?
