Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Kyle Larson has the championship on lock, IMO. He's in God mode. And since this car is all momentum and you have to rimride, there's no way in hell Kyle Larson doesn't win 10+ races and the championship.
Larson could easily win 10 races and finish 5th in points after getting punted on a GWC at Martinsville.

Don’t know how anyone can speak in absolutes with the asinine Playoff format. Joey Logano has been out to lunch all season. Yet stole a win last week to lock himself in. He could easily do the same thing as last year and back into the championship with 4 well timed races. Or somebody else for that matter.

But yes, Larson is damn near untouchable when he’s hooked up and dialed in. This should’ve been obvious since 2021.

Does Larson give up cup championship for a chance to win Indy 500
seem to remember there are only "medical" exemptions now for missing a race

The current championship format doesn't depend as much on season-long performance as it does who's hot for the last seven races. Four of those (Roval, Talladega, Martinsville, and Phoenix) don't suit his style. So no, he's not a lock for the championship.

He's planning to run Indy. Only weather will change that. Should that be a factor, any decisions are up to him and Mr. H.

I leave to drive to go see my Mom, and the 9 team does 9 team stuff. “Hello darkness my old friend…” LOL
I just hope this leads to changes. I really think if the crew holds the lead Chase has the trophy this weekend. Always hard to say for sure but man was it fin to watch Chase and Larson go at it on that restart and how Chase was better on the long run and run him down. It seemed like such a great example of both of their styles and how they can both work. I've always said Larson has the most raw talent but Chase is more than capable of beating him when he and the crew execute and the first 2/3 of this race was a great example of it. I can't imagine how pissed Chase must have been but he was silent on the radio unless he switched to a private channel or something. Not sure if they still do that.

We have seen this before and it does not matter how well he does right now. He will have beat those Toyotas and Fords at Phoenix and unless HMS finally figures that track out he will have a knife at a gun fight.

Anyone remember our old friend jaqua19, the Larson superfan that had a weekly meltdown over the 5?

Man quits the board and Larson has 7 top 5s in the 9 races since, including 3 wins lol.
That’s it. Screw this board, screw the 9 team, and screw all of you. I’m out. *deuces*. 🤣

I get it with the playoff system but to be fair if the NHL had the same format my Detroit Red Wings would have basically never lost a championship in the early 2000s. Also Jimmie Johnson won many consecutive titles in a similar format, it’s doable
