So here's this article:

HARRISBURG, N.C. -- Less than 24 hours after shocking the racing world, the team the helped Trevor Bayne and the No. 21 car win the Daytona 500 returned home to North Carolina on Monday.

Wood Brothers Racing, the Harrisburg-based race shop that owns the car the 20-year-old rode to victory Sunday, is still soaking in the excitement after its first win in almost a decade.

"We're on a fantasy ride right now," said owner Len Wood.

The ride started 61 years ago when NASCAR's oldest team built a shop in Virginia.

"It's not like we sold out to somebody 10 years ago or something like that. We're still a family-owned business," said Wood.
The Wood team hadn't won the Daytona 500 since 1976, a race then-crew chief Leonard Wood remembers well.

"You could just feel the different energy around you after you won," he said.

Current crew chief and 30-year NASCAR veteran Donnie Wingo says the team couldn't be more energized now.

"It's something that you dream about, especially with the heritage that goes along with the Wood Brothers being one of the oldest existing teams in NASCAR now," Wingo said.

Wood Brothers Racing planned on entering 17 Sprint Cup races this year with Bayne as driver. The money they earned from Sunday's win will allow them to race an 18th.

So is Richard Petty "Part of the Wood Bros family" since he is listed as the owner?

Did they get the 19's points from last year?

Yup, they did. So does that mean that RP has ownership in this team now or is this just one of thise "on paper" things?

I'd assume on paper things, probably just for the first 5 races so they can use the points.

I think it's just a on paper thing. Remember when Nascar said they couldn't "sell" points anymore? I think now you have to have a partnership in order to get the points from another car.

NASCAR has approved a reassignment of owners points, according to sources familiar with the situation. Richard Petty Motorsports and Wood Brothers Racing have partnered to create Wood Brothers II LLC. As a result, Trevor Bayne will be locked into the Daytona 500 behind the wheel of the #21 Motorcraft Ford. Richard Petty Motorsports ended last season with four teams inside the coveted top 35 in owner points, which guarantees them a starting spot in the first five races of the season. However, as the organization shrank from four teams to two, it allowed the opportunity to create the partnership with Wood Brothers.

Petty

Its all on paper, Richard Petty is selling his name to anyone who will buy it.

that leaves one still available somewhere. i'd be looking to get something for it.

Penske owns the 77, and Steve raced for Penske in the 77..What's the problem?

The problem is your wrong. He drove for RWR and not Penske. He used Penske's points like I said.

Officials of Rusty Wallace Racing (RWR) announced today that 23 year-old Steve Wallace will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in February's 53rd annual running of NASCAR's most prestigious event, the Daytona 500. Wallace will pilot the No. 77 Toyota Camry for RWR at Daytona, with backing from longtime sponsor 5-Hour Energy and new partner Aspen Dental.

and did I say there was a problem?Just stating a fact.Penske may have been listed as the owner on paper because they were using his points.Which is what the posts were about when I posted that.

I wasn't trying to start anything, I really didn't know. Pretty interesting actually.

I do not agree with this playing with the owner crap to get points to get in. There should be a rule that requires them to REALLy be an owner and have a stake in the team to be able to use the points.

Either your car gets the points or no one gets the points if that car no longer competes. That's the way it should be. This shuffling of points is a joke.

Actually, the whole reason is the top-35 crap, which truly needs to go.
