Cuss Words and Nascar

Swearing and Nascar go hand and hand >>>> just like swearing in other sports is just a way of life!!

In the Heat of battle drivers will swear and blow off steam >> in a way I guess its a good thing! Blow off some steam with a cuss word instead of trying to beat the crap out of the person your mad at!

Good thing for cuss words when it comes to Kevin Harvick >> cause I think Old Man Rudd would have put an old Fashion Wooping on his A** at Richmond!

I do believe you're right but YOU may be called to the BIG TRAILER and fined for saying A** on a public forum :lol2: :lol2:

i think that fining a driver for cussing is a *#$^(^Y@$#%T^*(!%#(^*&&$*&@$*(*_()_+@)$*(
and thats what i think !!!!

But most grownups do not cuss. Only those that do not have a real vocabulary. Children sometimes cuss in public to gain attention.

I say let grown ups talk like grown ups.
Responsible and respectable grownups and teenagers, do not need to use profanity to express themselves.

That being said, it is difficult for me, at times to make explanations of my personal feelings when angered without using "expletives deleted".

This I am working on and have been for a long time with some success. There is still a long way to go and my time on earth might run out before this fault becomes reality. Although my "expletives deleted" is usually confined to simple words like the name of the Devil's home and the partition constructed between a lake or pond and the river or stream.

As for NASCAR, and the media, it is a competitive sport and the media is "Johnny-on-the-spot" to stick a microphone in the competitors face within minutes of an incident. Part of the sport is the colorful explanation offered during the interview and many times, the regret of comments made by the one interviewed is instantaneous.
The media is to quick to be invasive and they must share some of the responsibility in these incidents. Of course, the ininterview with Harvick was not invasive since he stood on top of a car to express his displeasure with Rudd. That was an open invitation to all the media.

NASCAR should continue to fine those associated within the organization for profanity in an effort to maintain a modicum of decorum.

Kids hearing drivers and crew members unleash a list of "expletives deleted" might get the idea this is how "grownups" act, when in fact, these same people are being declared a part of the "NASCAR family". Thier use of profanity does not set a good example.

The question might be, what is profanity? And a simple answer could be, it is all in the eyes of the beholder. To some, words you or I might find offensive are to others an acceptable and frequently used part of the every day language. This is where respect for others enters the equation.

Of course, if you are really into profanity, once again profanity being in the eyes of the beholder, go see the movie, "Bad Santa".
This movie should win an Academy Award for containing the most foul language since the invention of motion pictures.

But that, IMHO.

Well put Whiz. All subjective really--even thought the standards for 'slang' terms are sadly dropping more by the day. 'Damn' and 'hell' have fallen into common usage and more are sure to come.

My grandmother had the cussing jar. If you cussed in her home, you put a quarter in the jar.

NASCAR's fines are just a cussing jar on a grander scale.

It is possible to control what you say. I agree that in the heat of the moment it is harder to do. One of my friends is a teacher and I don't know how he doesn't swear infront of the students. I sure know he would love to. Especially since when we are out ice fishing there are plenty of 4 letter words to go around.

I can cuss "like a sailor" but have an excellent vocabulary. I guess it depends on the situation and who one is conversing with.

Me, too kat. I can see it both ways, and you hear majority of the words that are spoken by these Nascar drivers on prime time television. I feel that some (i.e. G-D, f-bomb) are certainly worthy of a fine. But, I really do not see that saying sh!t or ass is really worthy of the fines that were levied.

This is strictly my opinion. Your mileage may vary. ;)

I say @$%#$%#% @#~~^#$@#$@#!!! Q!@#%%!^!!!!! about driver cussing it's all just a bunch of !@!!@$$%^&*%^&%!!!!!!!!

A lot of these words were or are acceptable forms of communication. My theory is that these were the languages spoken by lower class citizens centuries ago and the upper class citizens wouldn't use such language because it was the language of the common folk or peasants. When I was a kid, I would end up with a slap or a bar of soap in my mouth for uttering the word 'sh*t'. But it was o.k. for me to say 'caca'. In Spanish, 'caca' means 'sh*t'.

So he's not a choir boy. He get mad and will use colorful words. Like 25-30 more Nascar drivers. He can still drive the crap out of a race car.

Gollum  , is "crap" acceptable language to Nascar or should you be fined?

Well that is sort of a slang word. So maybe I will get just a small fine,

Don't forgot stomping on other driver's car hoods, spinning drivers out on purpose because they are in your way & doing swan dives off of pit wall at other drivers!

I don't know...crap may be o.k. But if you would have said caca... ;)

I am shocked that Harvick was the first person that ever spun another driver on purpose. I thought sure it has been done before. But looks like I was wrong. Now standing on a car hood is a little diffarent, but I never heard anyone wish he could shoot through someone's window either . Something new happens every year.

I'm all for cuss words at the track. Especially when you're working on the car and it's being a pain in the @$$.

you know, if i hadn't heard cuss words from other kids at school, i would have learned them from my dad and his friends in the garage.
