FOR HIS FIRST INTERVIEW
SINCE HIS NEAR FATAL CRASH - WEDNESDAY ON '60 MINUTES'
Looks like Dan Rather came up with another headline....

:D Yeah that "near fatal" part is a little dramatic.!! It could have been a lot more serious than it was, but from what I saw on replays, I doubt it would have gone fatal barring an explosion or some such freak thing. But, it'll get some viewers with that misleading headline.........such is "news" now days.

I count very well up to one and this is NOT Dale Earnhardt Jr's FIRST interview since the "near fatal" accident. I can recall him being interviewed a ton of times since then. I seem to remember a press conference at the first NHIS race and he's interviewed before and after pratically ever race.

geez.

Did they get ANY facts right?

oh wait.... his name is DALE EARNHARDT Jr! ;)

TonyB, I think it would be the first with an national network not tied closely to racing.........however, you are correct. Jr gets lots of interviews. Chalk that up to a lot of things including his name sake, his popularity (both good and bad), his standings in the top level of NASCAR (which, by the way, has been in the top ten since his rookie year), Budweiser, Wrangler Jeans, KFC, Napa Auto Parts, plus any number of other factors..........pretty good job of marketing, if one cares to admit that!! :D

I am sure they are refering to their first interview since the firey crash. and even if it wasn't, it's all about whatever it takes to get people interested and tuning in.

I just saw the Vegas line. The over/under on how many times Junior says "Ummmmmmm" is at 47.

regarding the MPD thing:
hey lets just say this, nascar wouldnt have such great ratings if it wasnt for that red budweiser car ;) i'm not a fan of #8 but i know the stands would be that much harder to fill without earnhardt jr.

Near fatal accident my ass. I have see my share of way more horifying crashes than that one. Anything for a headline..........

The car caught fire thats all, right? And the burns were Earnhardt jr's fault anyway because he wasn't using the correct flameproof ger.

Where did you hear he wasn't wearing the correct firesuit? A firesuit only slows the burns down..........Nomex will eventually give up. He was stuck in the burning car for quite some time. I think you are all wet on this one.

DE, he wasn't wearing the fire retardent underwear that are available. Dale Jr. himself stated that IF he had been wearing the additional fire retardent under garments along with the neck/face shield that are available, that he probably would not have suffered the burns that he did.

Thank goodness he was wearing the right undershirt --- he didn't have on the long underpants --- that's why his legs burned.

This interview was taped fairly soon after the incident.

Okay, so I'm a little wet here too!! :D I hadn't heard he wasn't wearing the bottoms to the underwear. I know he was wearing the firesuit.........I saw them drag him out of the car. But I couldn't see his underwear!! :XXROFL:
