If the CEOs of Ford and Toyota have the good sense that God gave them, they should offer Dale Earnhardt Jr. a deal to jump to one of their teams that would make George Steinbrenner gasp. Junior's interests would be much better served elsewhere. There's no reason why he must drive for the team that bears his father's name. Dale Sr. didn't even drive for DEI. Childress, the team Dale Sr. did drive for, would take Junior in a heartbeat

tkj, I've been looking the the story and haven't found it yet, but a Toyota higher-up said that Junior was what he called an asset and a liability. Junior was an asset because he is Junior. But, the guy admitted that Toyota couldn't support Junior with the equipment and teams that matched his skill.

Sort of like DE's first year with Richard --- RC knew he wasn't good enough yet and let Dale go. Then when RC knew he had good equipment in place, Dale came back.
