The official announcement of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s primary sponsorship and car number for the 2008 NASCAR season will be announced Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 1:30pm/et in Dallas, TX. The event is not open to the public.

Why Dallas? Can we presume that's where the sponsor is?

Dell?

Southwest Airlines?

Blockbuster?

Or does somebody know of another reason why it's in Dallas?

I predict....

Number... 28, 81
Sponsor - Mountain Dew or Visa

Pepsi is a huge customer of ours, I know that we deal with a ton of people from Pepsi in the Dallas area, so i think their HQ is there.

Although they have a lot of IT stuff in the Winston Salem area, BP, you know anything about that?

Their HQ is in Purchase NY. Their shareholder's meeting was in May in Plano TX. Why Texas for the announcement...

I predict #81

I heard somewhere 55% Mt Dew and pepsi's energy drink.
45% National Guard

...SO: the latest rumors have the sponsor being AMP Energy Drink, Mountain Dew and Army National Guard with the front runner on the car number is #81, with 88,58,82,38,28 being other rumored.
AND The announcement is coming in Dallas because PepisCo Inc. executives are having an annual conference there next week.(ESPN.com)(9-14-2007)

Well, the biggest Dale Jr fan I know says he heard its going to be Visa. I trust this guy. His Dale Jr collection makes my Danica collection look small.:D

ESPN "confirms" the car number will be 88.

So, to recap how ESPN's reported:
Junyer to the RCR. Done Deal.
Junyer to Gibbs, done deal.
Junyer to Hendrick.
Junyer to drive the 5 car.
Junyer to drive the 8 car.
Junyer won't drive the 8 car.
Junyer will drive 81.
Now, Junyer is in the 38 car.
Wait, 81.
Oh, it's 88, we're sure.

I don't like that number, that number beat Dale Sr at the 1996 Daytona 500. Junior should've picked either 5 or 81.

Are there no surprises in store for us this year?

Well, one thing for sure. Everyone is talking about Dale Jr. I have never seen a driver get as much publicity as Jr. Sure wish I owned some stock in him. How in the world could Teresa let him go.

off topic, but i'da took stock in budweiser right after they announced they were leaving Junior. Now that they'll be with kahne nex year, i bet the stock will go right back up.

lol.

as much as we'd like the think the world revolves around Nascar- Anheuser Busch stock has pretty much hovered between 50 and 54 throughout 2007.

I've heard it is a lock that it will be the #88 and there is already a deal in place with Robert Yates to sell that number to Rick Hendrick.

The sponsor is supposed to be Mountain Dew/Amp Energy Drink.

Am I the only one that heard Visa as a possibility too ?

I knew of Mountain Dew.

This is what I've seen the last couple of days, too.

Dale, Jr's., sponsor will be Pampers and Depends with associate sponsorship from Batesville Casket Company.

The car number will be 76.

The combination is designed expressly to appeal to everyone as it covers race fans from the cradle to the grave.
The car number was chosen as it represents average life expectancy.

With all this hoopla and media coverage, it is bound to be a hit with NASCAR and Junior fans.

GEEZE !!!!!! I'll be glad when all this :bsflag: is over !!!!!!!!!!!!
