EARNHARDT JR. DONATES BOAT FOR CHARITY AUCTION
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has donated a 33-foot boat appraised at more than $118,000 for an auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bidding starts at $50,000 and details and more information on the auction, which runs through Aug. 26, are available at ebay.com/dalejrwishboat or at the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Web site at www.wish.org. The winning bidder is scheduled to meet Earnhardt Jr. at the Celebrity Sports Auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Charlotte on Sept. 21.
 
First thing that I've ever heard that makes me think good of him. But why didnt he just donate the money.

Because people love to buy items that were once used or owned by famous people and there may be a chance it collects more money than he would donate. It could also be a situation like the Kenseth/Harvick T-shirt where Jr. will match the purchase price. Plus the donation of the boat can be used to help advertise the make a wish foundation. There are all kinds of benefits.


Plus he probably just doesn't want it any more.


Like Bucky Badger said, How much charity like this is done by celebrities that we don't hear of? All the media wants to spread is the negatives?
