Am I the only one that found it odd that Montoya was only able to get his lightly damaged race car out back on the track after 50 or so laps, yet Kenseth, Blaney and Reutimann, all fixed serverly torn up race cars and took less than ten laps? Whats the deal with that?

Sometimes damage is less visual and more mechanical. Could have easily got a hole in the radiator or something. I cant imagine theres not a good reason behind it. Most of the time if they can get it out and log laps at near race speeds, it can save you a few points.

Montoya seemed to damage his splitter supports, which would make it impossible to keep up. His team probably did the calculations and figured there was nothing to gain by becoming a rolling chicane at Daytona.

But Kenseth simple destroyed his, and like I said before he was out within 10 laps.

Where the heck is Andy when you need a totally off the wall theory ?

depends what they have for spare parts. Some teams keep an entire front clip out, ready to rivet on. Others may only keep small sub-assemblies. plus the number of screw is a matter too- 12 people versus 20. Plus any hidden damage in the hydraulic systems.

Where's Juan Pablo Montoya?
