Seriously, I'm not expecting a win or anything, but if I heard right on SpeedTV Danica will be going off 23rd for the Cup race. Plus I would guess she will be well in the mix in the NNW field.

Like the announcers said sometimes a track just fits a driver and it could be AMS is that track for Danica like it used to be for Bobby Labonte. She is comfortable with speed as an ex-Indy driver and if they can set up the car right for her she could realistically lay down a bunch of fast laps.

Plus...it's not a "beatin and bangin" track so less chance of somebody taking her out.

Should be a great weekend - NASCAR triple header and college football in between :partytime

Her interveiw after she qualified got me. She said they finally listened to her as what she needed in the car. You'd hope they were listening all along becuase every driver is different as what they want/need in a car. She picked up over a second from practice to qualifying.

With her being a relatively new unexperianced driver you wonder if they where putting in what they thought was right or what they thought she needed. Comunication and understanding go's a long way.

Then again I can't imagine how difficult it must be coming from open wheeled Indy cars and their Jargon to the stock cars and how they go about things.....then thorw in trying to understand a woman

Her careful nature may serve her well at AMS in the form of tire preservation. However, she's going to get chewed up on the initial start of the race. Hopefully she doesn't wreck.

Danica doesn't realize that she finally made sense in what she asked for. It's good to see her finally learning a little instead of just riding around. I really enjoy when she starts making passes, and she clearly has the makings for a proper stock car attitude.

If she runs NW next year, she'll probably get a win. Cup will take years unless she gets lucky and it rains at the right time.

I just have a hard time imagining her being aggressive enough to battle with some of the top NNS and/or Cup guys heads up. I could see her winning on strategy (fuel or otherwise) but not any time soon in a slug fest.

I agree. Without mother nature or fuel mileage, she's pretty far away IMO.

Yep...I'm not sure if the weather conditions changed much...but they didn't say that about anyone else so either something "clicked" with the setup or she just decided to put the pedal to the metal.

P.S. - a few years back I lucked into great tickets at AMS. I really loved it. It's like a huge short rack with bigtime speed. The pits are right in front of you. As long as you don't mind 3 hours coming and 3 hours going in stop and go traffic it's a great experience. (they may have improved that since I was there)

Travis Pastrana completely out drove her, and he's only got a handful of races under his belt. Meanwhile, Danica battled with NASCAR legend :D Joe Nemechek.

I don't think she has what it takes to be anything better than a 25th place driver in cup.

In the race I was watching she finished 13th...

We will have to see what happens tonight.

IMO, her willingness to battle with the cup guys isn't in question but her ability is. Give her a full year in Nationwide and she should be ready to take it up a notch. The pressure that will be on her to prove that she deserves a cup ride is going to be huge.

Exactly

She accomplished what she needed to accomplish. She got better over the course of the race despite limited opportunities to work on the car because of all the long green flag runs. Atlanta is a treacherous track and she left without a mark on her car.

I hate posts like this. Danica is good on ovals period. If no one knew this, then they never followed her very long. They just jumped on the "media" bandwagon with her. Ive followed her since 2004 so I know what her expertise is.
I just wish people would stop saying oh she will do good at this race, she is learning, watch what she can do, oh she crashes all the time. You know, let the girl race and back off!

She doesnt need all this pressure from media. Let her race, do her job and she will succeed. Enough said!!!!

If ovals are her "expertise" she really has no business in NASCAR. In 26 races on NASCAR ovals, her average finish is 21st with 3 top 10s.

Danica Patrick fans are the most annoying and delusional fanbase in NASCAR, and sports in general. She was mediocre to terrible in Indycar in the best equipment in the series, routinely the worst performing driver on her team. She has been an embarrassing flop in NASCAR so far, once again while racing in the best equipment in the series.

Danica Patrick is a marketing creation and a publicity stunt. Someone thinks she can sell product. And thats fine. But she has very little talent and even less upside. All she is doing is getting in other drivers way and taking a seat away from a young driver who actually has a chance to accomplish something in NASCAR, which she never will.

If any other Indycar driver had Danica Patrick's stats in that series and called up Rick Hendrick, Jr., or Smoke and said "hey, I would like to drive for you maybe", they wouldnt be able to contain their laughter before hanging up the phone. She doesnt deserve to be where shes at and the fact that she is shows exactly what is wrong with the sport.

Wow! Jeez, DanicaFan, probably the biggest Danica fan around is far from annoying, and also happens to be very knowledgeable on the sport. Aside from that, if you actually look at here stats, she was often the best performing member in an otherwise under-performing team.

Until Godaddy commercials feature her driving a stock car, we all know where her real talent lies.

I dont hate her, but her fans maybe need to quit blaming the media, the fans, the attention, and other drivers and admit that maybe...just MAYBE...she isnt very good and doesnt belong in NASCAR.

Actually , I thought leading twenty laps on a road course was pretty impressive for any rookie.

Coulda fooled me:rolleyes:

I dont hate her, I hate what she stands for. She has little talent or upside and didnt have the results in Indycar to warrant a sniff in NASCAR, especially with an elite team, and she has been beyond awful in the Nationwide series, but she will keep getting opportunities just because someone thinks she is marketable.
