Will the cup guys still race there? and if so the race is in the spring right?

so why don't they just call that race the Southern 500, It dont matter if the Southern 500 is ran in the fall, summer or when it would be nice to have kept it the way it was for like 54 years, but lets keep the name alive.

TPTB have done to The Lady exactly what they did to The Rock. They have set it up to fail. There's a simple reason no races were scheduled for Mother's Day weekend for so many years.

Bastards.

Yes, Mother's day will kill this event I assume. Just wondering, is the weather nice in Darlington that time of year compared to last Sunday?

Actually, if their intention is to kill it by way of Mother's Day, it could backlash, close to half of the fans now are women. What a better gift??!?!?

I saw a poll last year that asked women about a Mothers Day race and it was overwhelmingly in favor of it.

Remember, this race is NOT on Mothers Day, but the night before. Darlington is close to the teams shops, so they will all still be home for Mothers Day.
Personally I thought having a race that weekend was a smart move by NASCAR.

I don't like the idea. But not for a racing reason really. Racing on Mother's Day or the weekend of, if a driver is seriously injured (or worse, god forbid), the last time in the world should be Mother's Day.

As a mother and a race fan, I always felt slighted that Father's Day had a race. LOL

Since almost half of race fans are women now, why not try Mother's Day weekend.

May in Darlington, the weather can be anywhere from real nice to a little warm. Saturday night with the Lady in Black could work.

As a fan of racing, as a fan of Darlington, I say...bring it on. I know many, many mothers who would rather be sitting in the stands at a Darlington race than sitting at home, looking at a half cooked meal by the guy who said they would do anything for, at anytime, and a room full of kids with runny noses. Yep, if you ask me, the stands will be more full of mothers than anyone else if they were given the wonderful gift of a ticket to a race at Darlington for Mother's Day.
