I was watching Inside Nascar on Showtime, and they showed the break down between Gordon and Busch making it and not making it in the chase. Of course there was a lot of radio from both teams. It was night and day how both teams operated, not just the drivers. Gordon started out like **** and Alan Gustafson kept his cool rallied his guys and got the car running straight. On the flip side Busch started out decent, and when his car started dropping off what happened? Dave Rodgers fell apart. He looked clueless out there, lacked awareness, and it showed with his team's performance (missed lugnut). It is apparent that Dave Rodgers is in over his head. He isn't a very good crew chief. He made a name for himself in NNS when he had the best driver (Busch) and best equipment (JGR) in the weak NNS fields. I am not a defender of Busch, but I think he needs a veteran crew chief like a Fennig.

It was more than feed back from KyB. You could see the break down in the decision to pit or stay out during that last rain delay. He finally told Kyle to pit right as Nascar announced it was one to go. After that they were forced to stay out and KyB slid to the back. That was ultimately the down fall of their race. I understand they weren't the only ones who stayed out, but just the indecision he showed was not good. I am sure Chad Knaus, whose team also stayed out, wasn't so indecisive.

That's very different from what you said at first. Rogers took full responsability for losing focus and blowing that call.

Dave obviously made the wrong call but they also "lost Kyle". Kyle has a tendency to get frustrated if something doesn't go as planned and instead of working through it, he gives up. So when they stayed out after that caution for rain, it appeared that Kyle just pulled over and let everyone go by. Granted he was on older tires but I think he could have fought a little more for this positions. Especially considering what was on the line.

It takes everyone on the same page when the going is good and when it doesn't quite go that way. Until Kyle gets his head in the game in that regard, he won't win the championship - regardless of crew chief.

how is that different from what i said befors? i said be looked clueless and lacked awareness. that non pit call proves that. just because he owned up to it doesnt make up for the fact tgat he is in over his head or fix the issue.

i agree and disagree. i am not trying to take any blame from Kyle. he is a hot head douche with plenty of issues. i guess what i am saying is if he had a competent crew chief they wouldnt "lose kyle" as much.

Huh?........Alan Gustaffson (who made the chase) and Steve Addington are former KB CC's, so what you're saying is silly. Stop blaming the CC's for Kyle's troubles.

no wonder jeffrey thinks Dave looked like he didn't have a clue. Kyle didn't feel like communicating.

that was after dave FUBARed the race. i am not trying to defend Kyle here. just trying to say that Dave Rodgers is an incompetent crew chief and the film backs it up. go watch it for yourself.

can you not read? i am not taking tge blame all from kyle. i was making an observation from what i saw on film. also kyle had his best cup years with Addington so try again.

And Kyle fired him, so YOU try again. lol

I heard Dave ask KB on the radio what he needed and his reply was "I don't give a f***".

That's the key right there. He was coming in, and he took away Daves last chance to adjust the car and pick up just 3 spots in that last run on new tires.

I watched Kyle's Hotpass and he was just dejected and was hoping one of his teammates would bring out a caution. Dave did nothing to talk Kyle off the ledge because he knew he messed up. He and the spotter should have rallying their driver but they all folded. Just a bad night for them. It will be interesting to see if a leader steps up and can get this team to finish strong.

That should be Kyle, but we know that won't happen.

this. kyle is a hot head douche, but his whole team lacks leadership starting at the crew chief position. the drivers can be the leader of a team, but they dont have to be. the crew chief however has to truly lead the whole team especially when you have a immature driver. like Zippy was for Tony early in Tony's career.
