Days of Thunder

Was it on TV, or just because of Kurt Busch's paint job?

It's the best racing movie. Talladega Nights was more of an insult to Nascar fans.

Talladega Nights was funny the first time but you're right, the entire movie was a cheap shot at the sport. Even that NASCAR episode on that stupid ass show South Park was better than Talladega Nights.

I don't know if it was on tv, but I just got in the mood to watch it because of watching the car last night. But, I also had the urge to go by a dozen hot dogs after watching the hot dog eating contest. lol. But, I didn't because I just started a diet earlier this week.:)

Oh come on, lighten up a bit I mean if you can't have fun with yourself who can you have fun with, both movies were great honestly, hell a lot of the drivers LOVED Talladega Nights so it most not much of an insult or cheap shot.

Anyway about the question I didn't, I watched the final part to Back to the Future after watching part 1 and 2 the night before.

I own two movies: "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", and "Chicken Run". Tom Cruise isn't in either one. But I'm with Blaze88; I'd pick up any or all of the BTTFs before either "Day" or "Talladega".

For the record, I set the DVR around lap 40 and went to bed. The next thing I looked at after the recording was this morning's paper.

Days of Thunder was the film that got me into NASCAR in the first place and i still use the phrase "Rubbin, son, is racin" to this day, i dont know why though.

I think talledega nights was one of the worst things i have ever seen in my entire life. It probably doesnt help that I despise will ferrells acting with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

On the other hand, Days of Thunder is fricken amazing.

Anyone ever see the movie 6-pack? thats kind of a lesser known racing movie

I've seen Days of Thunder at least 20 times, it was on an endless loop when I was kid on HBO and is one of the reason's I'm a huge race fan. The other is my Dad and one of my old neighbors.

I have Amazon prime and it's on there for free :)

In My Opinion.
Days of thunder very good.
Talladega nights, bad, very bad, stinks, stupid, moronic, imbecilic, in other words I couldn't stand it.

Funny but when I got up this morning Talladega nights was on the telly down here in NZ o_O

You live down in NZ for a long time Clutch?
Was born here.....moved with my family to Vancouver, Canada in 79....then back here in 99.
I work for our airline so I travel up frequently to the US and Canada. Works out well.

If you ever plan on coming down just let me know. We'll show you a great time. ......and catch a few nice fish.

Gawd! Will Adam Sandler ever just go away??????

Edit: meant for race thread.

For those of us in our 40's, it was labeled "Top Gun in stock cars." But still a good movie. Actually, I'm watching it right now.

Days of Thunder is a god-awful movie with ridiculously unrealistic racing sequences but it definitely has some classic lines.

Side note: I took my then girlfriend to see that movie when it first came out. I didn't watch ANY racing back then but the trailer looked exciting. I think I was 19.

"No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he "rubbed" you. And rubbin, son, is racin'."

Without Robert Duvall that movie would have sucked real hard.

The funniest part is when Rowdy's wife calls says "Hi Tom" instead of "Hi Cole" when they were walking in Rowdy's yard. How did that get through editing?

On the way home, did you tell her that you were more afraid of being nothing than you were of being hurt?

alot of things I didn't like about the movie. mostly the racing scenes where the insinuation was they could push, shove, and "rub" all the time.

but I have to admit there were tons of really great quotes and entertaining twists on stories from the past.

the other thing I would recommend for nascar novices, is to study over and over again, the scene where drafting is explained. it is truly far more educational than anything dw and larry mac have presented.:D

Cruise and Duvall recently worked together again in "Jack Reacher", which was a pretty good movie in my opinion. Pretty cool car chase with a '70 Chevelle SS 454 to boot.

Yeah, that was a good movie. I liked the bar fight scene.

Rick Hendrick was the technical advisor for "Days of Thunder"

And I don't ever recall hearing the (non)word "exspecially" used in the movie.:D

I'm just happy that DW never explained that on Larry's leg.
