Daytona seats 168,000. There's what, maybe 50,000 there. The place looks empty.

I tuned in after the prelude finished. Looked at the top 5, decided it wasn't worth the wasted time to watch.

Well, once again the pit reporters were trying to get something special from a frustrated driver, this time Mike Wallace. Mike presented himself good in my opinion and handled the interview the right way. I just wonder how Steven would have handled the interview?

I was hoping that Jami was going to ask Mike if he was going to have to ask Rusty's permission to kick the kid's butt. :D

Rick Hendrick - :XXROFL: :XXROFL: :XXROFL:

Do you guys have anything to catch the 20

Rick: If we were allowed to use the R07s, we would.

The man does have a point. So much for leveling the playing field, let's just let a Sprint Cup team win all the Busch races.

I watched the last 40 laps of the "NNS at Daytona," and it wasn't even a good race. Looked like the 2004 Daytona 500, a 4 car breakaway.

For Daytona/Talladega standards, that race was awful.

I was dying listening to that interview. :XXROFL:

The next Wallace family cookout sounds like a really fun place to play fly-on-the-wall. :)

yeah it was like good racing for 10 laps than 4 cars would brake away. i was thinking it was below average for a restrictor plate race :(

Clint Boyer: "A monkey would win in that car". :D

R07 engine

Rick said he couldn't use the R07 engine... I thought they started useing that engine last year.. What happened?
Betsy:confused:

All these teams were laughing at the Yotas last year...look whose laughing now!!!!

Amen to that!

I knew it would take them a year to get it right. Plus, I had a feeling that the Gibbs deal would really make them shine.

Surprised I haven't heard more whining from Rousch.

Do the TOY cars have a downgraded engine too? Or do they run the Cup engine?
Betsy:confused:
Toyota's allowed to run their Cup engine in Busch. NASCAR won't allow Chevy to do the same, knowing Toyota has a 15-20hp advantage on the rest of the field.

I don't know about Dodge and Ford though. That said, this Toyota dominance in Busch is very much NASCAR's doing.

:sarcasm: They're leveling out the playing field. :sarcasm:

Same engine as Cup.
The difference is in the tapered restrictor plate used in the Nationwide series. Windtunnel-wise the Nationwide cars should be faster on the track than the bulkier, less aerodynamic COT.
To ensure that the Nationwide cars are not turning faster lap times than the Cup cars, NASCAR implemented the tapered plate for the Nationwide series cars. Same reason that the Nationwide Chevys cannot run the RO7 engine.
The Nationwide COT is currently on hold but I believe that when a COT-style Nationwide car is approved , NASCAR will allow Chevy to run the RO7 in the Nationwide series. (Prolly without the plate).
