Dear Brad Keselowski: Shut up and drive

Man, some people have too much time on their hands.

I didn't like Keselowski at first, then he earned my respect, but now I'm starting to not like him again. He's been acting like a whiny little beeyotch all year. His comments about David Ragan at Talladega really irked me, now he's calling out a car owner that gave him a shot early in his career. Not good Brad, not good.

That's pretty much how I feel.

It raises a question, though. Is poaching employees to gain an advantage any different than finding a power/handling advantage and exploiting it to achieve the upper hand?

Hendrick was more than happy to keep Keselowski but he bailed to Penske because it was best for him so why shouldn't Penske/Roush employees do what is in their best interest as well?

It's ironic that Hendrick told Keselowski that he'd be coming to get him back some day.

Yeah, when I saw a blurb about this on Jayski I had the same reaction. Brad's probably my second favorite driver behind Junior right now, and I love the fact that he doesn't hesitate to speak his mind. That said, sometimes there's a fine line between speaking your mind and whining, and nobody likes a whiner.

At least he apologized for 'Dega, though. He made a stupid, uninformed comment, it was a mistake, and he owned up to it, which actually made me respect him more if anything.

Honestly Hendrick and Gibbs haven't been that dominate, 8 of those nine wins are between three drivers

Exactly, I don't blame Brad one bit for leaving Hendrick to go to Penske back in '09, as there really wasn't any room for him there at the time. And it was the best move for him: he won the championship in a year that would likely have been his first full season had he stayed with HMS. But, as you said, Penske employees have the right to make those moves too.

No one kidnapped these guys. If they valued what are probably larger contracts and the chance to work for the two best teams in NASCAR more than staying with the defending championship team, that's their judgement.

Never thought Kez would turn into this big of a whine bag.
Have you driven a Ford lately?

A Ford on an Oval will make a man Blue.

This is what I found.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
— ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

But I'm not about to argue with a teacher. :D

Not that I can find.
Now some people say Abraham Lincoln said something similar, but there is no documentation.

I can't argue the fact that Lincoln was a great orator, but the adage sounds more like Twain than anyone else.

I guess I was thinking of something along these lines; Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise; When he shutteth his lips, he is esteemed as prudent. 17:28, apparently

I'm not a religious person so it's just something I heard along the way.

But, like Brad, we've probably all been guilty of not heeding that advice one or more times ;)

Sounds like Brad's problem is with Penske not HMS or Gibbs.

He's not winning races and he's blaming everyone else for it. First it was NASCAR letting Jimmie get away with cheating or something. Then it was NASCAR's out to get him and they penalized him because they scrutinize his car more than anyone else or some ****. Then it was NASCAR's fault he didn't win because they gave David Ragan his spot at Talladega. Now it's Hendrick and Gibbs' fault he's not winning because they stole a couple of crew members from Penske's Nationwide team.

Brad Keselowski's been more entertaining this year than Kyle Busch.

Hendrick snagged a guy from the old Penske engine shop before it closed and a tire changer, while Penske nabbed up one of Hendrick's tire changers. Seems to be business as usual in NASCAR, with personnel changing from team to team. How is that "poaching"? Brad, I honestly don't think Gibbs or Hendrick need any info about how you run your operations; the 2 teams seem to be doing just fine :p

I guess Brad has never heard of "Suitcase" Jake Elder.
In the early days, guys just packed their tool chest and moved on down the road to the next shop.

"suitcase jake" -----nor most a' these guys ! ha!

i think that earlier twain/lincoln quote was also used quite a bit last 5 yrs----in reference ta joe biden !

Well, it's clear to me that Brad isn't Championship material. He isn't willing to act like a Champion off the track, then he deserves to lose the title in 2013 to someone who'll actually act like a Championship, because whether or not he knows it, the champion is the face of the Sprint Cup for an entire year. So he either needs to step up, or step aside.

What do you think this is, the Miss America pageant? He won the thing, got the money and doesn't have to wear a crown. o_O

The fact that personnel are poached and take a ton of knowledge to another team is not new . The fact that it can heavily impact a teams performance is not new . (Just look at how RCR losing one guy to MWR set RCR way back and pushed MWR ahead) . The only thing new here is that an open and honest driver gave an open and honest answer about some of the changes that affected his team this year . That just isn't done.Bad Brad .

Let me see if I got this...you believe that Keselowski and Ford's woes in 2013 can be attributed to HMS and JGR stealing away their employees?

Just curious but did you also believe "Bad Brad" was being honest when he claimed that Nascar was out to get him?
