Donnie Smith ran the open wheel modifeds the last couple years at Virginia Motor Speedway, and also traveled around to a couple other tracks now and then when he could. He had a crate motor (way under powered compared to everyone else) in his modified that he called "the little crate that could." Before switching over to the modifie, he ran many years in is yellow 1$ street stock at Potomac Speedway, Winchester Speedway and Hagerstown Speedway. I'm proud to call this man a friend, even though I really only knew him for 3 or 4 years. Always happy, always helping out, and always making people smile. Would give the shirt off his back and parts out of his trailer to help out fellow races and fans alike. He was taken from us way too early in a tragic non-racing related manner (that I really don't know much about)

Today was just a sad day.

Sorry to hear VaDirt. Seems the good are taken way to soon. My prayers to his family and friends.
