So I was asked by WRT Speedwerx, the guys that shoot for Williams Grove, Lincoln, Hagerstown, Port Royal, Winchester, and Selingsgrove, to join their team and be the track photographer at Potomac Speedway.

Pretty damn flattering to be asked, because these guys are all amazing photographers.

I really want to, but there's a really big barrier to me just jumping in right away. The big 2.5 mile drive, along with the gas to buy every Friday night. I'm pretty sure I could clear more than enough in sales, but that's an awful big commitment to make right now. I love the track, have a lot of friends up there, but damn, 2.5 hours just about every Friday.

Don't worry, half their races will be rained out.

Well not trying to blow smoke up your a*s, but with the pics and links you've posted I'm not surprised they asked you cause you do some great camara work. Last time I got photos from a track it looked like they were taken from atop of a tree.

I appreciate that.

Am I missing something? Your holding back over the gas money you'll spend driving 2.5 miles? Go for it Man!

I say go for it, VA!

Remember, can always sell to the magazines as well.

We give our resident photog $100 a year, works out to ~$5 a photo, but he gets paid to show up in the first place. What we give him is basically to pay for him making the car look good. He just had Hernia surgery and missed the 2nd to last promod race, I told him "Should let me take your camera!".

Drive from VADirt's place to Potomac is a half tank of gas in a good car, full tank of gas in an old car.
I think it's a 2.5 HOUR drive, not miles.

Ookay I see it now, the first time he mentions the drive he says "the big 2.5 mile drive" later he corrects himself to say 2.5 Hour drive, Gotcha I must have read over the correction.

I still say go for it or later on you'll be Wishing you'd Gave It A Shot!

I wish. I live in the wrong place. All the dirt teams live way to the north.

Damn. Perhaps the track could hook you up with someone who works there so you can carpool and split the gas costs. Gas costs is why I own 2 cars. The 35 mpg is for daily use, the 20 mpg more for long trips.
