I have a problem with this. I don't know how this guy is championship material after having several DNF's and being outside the top-8 most of the season. Now, he's' 6 points out of first.

I know we're all supposed to love and worship Hamlin in the NASCAR world because the media tells us to, but whatever. If he wins this thing, it'll be THE perfect example of why The Chase is a scam.

Same if Johnson wins

I sort of agree. The guy is too inconsistent during the regular season for me to get excited about him being this close to a championship. That's not championship material but he has gotten on it when it counts. Same could be said for JJ. At the same time, everyone else out there has the same opportunity to win it so it doesn't play favorites.

Where can I find how the points would be under the old system? Would Harvick still be in first?

Denny has 7 wins,13 top 5's and 16 top 10's. Jimmie has 6 wins, 15 top 5's and 19 top 10's.
Sounds like Denny is as much championship material as Jimmie is.

JJ's different. Every year he's won it, he would've been 1st or 2nd under the old points system. Hamlin wouldn't even be in the top-five.

Thanks. I hope Harvick still wins it.

Don't worry, they're supposed to have this all fixed by next year when they implement the their new changes that will further water down the term NASCAR Champion.

jj would be -264 under the old system... I am starting to hate the chase.

He is a lot more Championship material freindly than Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson combined.

I think I like the chase better. What fun would watching the last 10 races be?
i never had a problem watching the last 10 races under the old system. the chase reminds me of the phantom debris cautions that never happens. <g>

Oh joy, I can hardly wait to see what kind of an abortion this will be.:sarcasm:

Points

Alan Kulwiki didn't lead the points until the last lap of last race.
