Depression?

Get your broker on the horn! there's bargains afoot and blood in the gutters. We're ~600 points from the circuit breaker being thrown. You don't see a buyer's market like this often.

If I weren't afraid that Pelosi would browbeat some of the 94 Dems that deserted their post and voted against the bailout this would be a great time to go out and buy more stocks.

I am seriously considering buying some of the stocks I already hold. Those lower prices are looking good --- particularly my oil company stocks.

I never see the dividends --- those are automatically re-invested.

*licking my chops at some good buys*

Almost? The car you're ready to buy for full price all the sudden goes on sale and costs 5 grand less than you expected to pay, and it's 'almost' a good deal?

;)

well, either the stock market will crash ad fall apart, or it will go back up. I'll wait till after the election to reinvest my college tuition myself.

Who pays full price, I'm assuming sticker, for a car? We have a Dodge dealer offering 50% off sticker on pickups, 40% on cars. Ford dealers have $12,000 off new F-150's. Chevy/GMC dealers have similar deals. Even the imports, KIA, Mazda, Hundai, Toyota and Honda are offering deals too. Car lots here are jam packed. Only problem is financing.

Yep, they're offering good deals --- just not on the kind of truck my husband needs.

The pickups are usually 4-door, 4x4, diesels with 6 foot beds. Bah, humbug.
Useless as hell when you need a truck that will do some work. Those things can't even haul a sheet of plywood without the tailgate down. Double, Bah humbug.

What's wrong with dropping the gate to haul plywood? I have a 05 Silverado, ext cab, v-6, all power except seats. Does everything I ask, including carrying a ton of wood pellets for my stove. I get them from my dealer 54 miles away. He slides them in on a pallet and away I go. Dealer will put me in a 08 but with a v-8 real cheap but I like 20 mpg city :)

I heard financing in in the 6% range...Yikes!
Edit: I just checked some manufacturer websites and found that the news is obviously incorrect. Ford still offers 2.9% on some models and 1.9% on trucks.

Ford has an F-250, 8 ft. bed, with a few options, V8, Auto trans, CD/MP3 for $26,000 at 1.9% financing. F150's are much cheaper but won't haul as much weight, same financing, though.

Read the fine print. The low interest rate is for "qualified buyers". Walk in without absolutely perfect credit and you won't be seeing that 2.9%

Ever see that actor Gary Coleman on tv for a loan company? You call them up, they send you a check up to $1500. He does say make sure you can make the payments.

The interest rate is 99.25%:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
WHAT! Interest is 141% in some states, click on rates.

Why would an "unqualified" buyer be looking to buy a new vehicle?

Just too rough here in rural East Texas. Anything not tied down to a fair-thee-well would just bounce/slip right out the back. So much easier to put stuff in the bed and close the tailgate. Our roads are glorified cattle trails.
