....all those drunk, redneck, hillbilly, potbellied, beer-swilling Kenseth fans throwing beer cans and bottles at Gordon after the race? I couldn't believe the behavior of those fans. They should all be banned from any other race.

Typical Kenseth fans....they really showed their intelligence.

:D

I'll bet they all had Talladega taped and watched it repeatedly for training. Otherwise they would've been throwing cheese cubes.

haha,

I agree, they all sould be banned from another race. The fans part was just un-called for.

But hey, they just thought he was thursty and could of used a nice cold drink :roll eyes:

Good point. There may have been one or two paper cups thrown. ;)

The only thing the fans could have done better was to knock his sorry ass out with them bottles

And, I'm sure you would have probably been one of the classless chunkers had you been there.

Well, let's see...

Finished 6th in his first Cup debut, subbing for Bill Elliott.
61 top 5's, 110 top 10's, career average finish of 10th.
Cup champion 2004. Became Cup champion after only 5 years in Cup.
Career 67,943 laps led in only 9 years.
2004 IROC Champion.

Yeah, I would imagine he may have amassed some fans, considering the stats.

Comparatively, Johnson has 5 years in Cup with no championships and a career average finish of 12.2

Since Terry and Mark will not be racing, Matt Kenseth is who I have been pulling for. Denny Hamlin too, as long as he doesn't act like his team mate.

What do stats have to do with a driver's fan base?

And what does Jimmie Johnson have to do with Kenseth?

I just added Jimmie's stats as a reference because he's the only one currently ahead of Matt Kenseth in points.

Generally, newer fans, unfamiliar with the sport, tend to rally around whomever is currently on top.

What has JJ done because I know you can't mean Tony? Who would want their driver to win a bunch of races and 2 championships in 6 years of racing in NASCAR Cup and bunches of wins and championships in other series along the way?

It is not the beer that is the problem. It is the PEOPLE that drink the beer and then do stupid stuff like this. I believe that one of the tracks even has a "family" section in their stands. That means no beer allowed in that section. If someone can fill in the name of the track that would be great, because at the moment I can't.

I'm a Kenseth fan so there's one and I'll tell ya' another thing - it isn't 'cause the band wagon just rolled through town.

I think most of the tracks now have family sections, i know all the local ones i go to do. Banning alcohol sales would probably cut down on some classless acts , but not all of them. When alcohol, hot sun, racing, and incidents like this past Sundays are put in the pot and stirred....stuff happens. :growl:

Bristol has a family section in turn 4. I know that Texas does not.

I don't care for JJ either. ;)

The rules of sports are pretty universal.

It's always ok to cheer for 'your team/player' for beating the other team/player.

It's poor sportsmanship to boo when the other guy wins, or cheer when they mess up.

That's just good etiquette. Too bad fans in all sports are forgetting this... :(

All I can say about that is you must really go nuts when you go to any race. As far as I'm concerned, this is part of the very root of fan sportsmanship.

I'm not saying I don't get upset if someone else wins, but I don't boo the winner...that's just low-class. (that's kinda what this thread is addressing...)

Just call me a low-class redneck and look for me all over the stands, they're full of us. You must sit up there in one of the suites having a glass of wine while us rednecks are slurping our beer and having a great time. We sit right next to some close friends each and every Saturday night and it seems that we all love to hate the other's favorites. We stand and boo when they win and cheer when our favs win, trying to sound louder than our friends.

I know you would like for this world to fit into the mold you project, but it just isn't that way. You want to crowd to no boo someone, go watch golf. That's about the only sport that I know of where it doesn't happen.

that's not very nice buckaroo, i think you're cool person but booing someone is just wrong..but then again people still boo, is their choice.

To your post I say... and listen good... Boooo! :beerbang:

You know, there are times and places when expressing your opinions are appropriate and by golly, the race track is certainly one of those places. We here in America love to hiss and boo those we dislike. In Europe, they whistle, but it's the same thing. Maybe that is being a poor sport, but so be it. It's one thing to boo someone, but it's totally another to act physically on it. That's why at the track, law enforcement will eject you quickly if you throw something, but won't do a thing as long as it's only booing. Now if you are around a bunch of drunken itiots, the booing could cause some physical reactions, but those bums should be kicked out anyway.

Love us or hate us, us boo-birds are here to stay.

BTW, there has been only one driver in the upper echelons of NASCAR that I've ever booed and that was Earnhardt the senior. I didn't hate the man, just always wanted to see him get beat by someone else. I was at the race where he died and though I earlier booed at him, I cried for him on the way to the hotel.

ah i see you still dweling on that topic fergy.

but if you must know..hell yes is worse.
see calling someone a loser..that's just meaningless words, all you have to know is that you're aren't. fergy takes things so personal.

oh i plainly misunderstood your situation buckaroo..for that i'm sorry.
i though you meant to say you boo someone and throw things too.. but that's not the case sorry again. i stand corrected

I'm about the last one here who takes things personal. You're the one whinning that I was "attacking" you. I just asked you a question, that's all.......

Don't gets your drawers all wound up.

I did the same that day....loved to see him get beat, but i still respected the hell out of the man.
