Do you think the pole winner should get a bonus point?

I've been thinking and that's usually not a good thing but I think there should be some extra incentive to win the pole. I know it really helps with track position and getting out in clean air but I think it would push the teams even harder (esp the smaller teams) trying to get the pole instead of just a decent starting spot.

Imagine a driver who has like 10 poles, that's 10 extra points that in this new points system would be huge to get into the chase.

What does everyone think?

I am oppossed.
I wouldnt mind 3 points for most laps led, 2 for 2nd most, 1 for 3rd and no other bonus points to lead. Maybe 5 bonus points to win to insure the winner always is rewarded most.

Points are fine. We need to quit changing things and let this sport play out.

Right now, you get a point for leading a lap and an extra point if you lead the most. Which I'm fine with. Also, winning the race counts for an extra 3 pts. Personally I think it should be 5.

I just feel like sometimes qualifying is a waste of time. some drivers never win the pole but still dominate the race.. A reward besides money would be nice.

Well in a 500 mile race especially on a plate track where you start means nothing.

Nah. It would be nice to see an extra bonus for leading the most laps, though. Same for winning. Maybe add one point to both so the max is then 50.

I still don't get it , Why wouldn't a driver try to win the pole ? They get first pit stall , they get their sponsor more tv time , they get their owner and crew more repect , they get to enter the Clash at Daytona , what is the downside? The guys who win it always seem happy .

We award pole winners with a spot in the Sprint Unlimited (Shootout). IMO, I don't think points should be awarded for anything but the actual race.

No. The only change I'd make to the points is, when they reset for the Chase, I would give each driver 2 additional points for every position above 11th they finished the regular season (20 bonus pts for the leader, 18 for 2nd, 16 for 3rd, and so on). That way the points standings in the first 26 races mean a bit more, and the guy in 10th doesn't leapfrog the guy in 1st just because he had one more win.

Danica got one pole, I mean she grabbed the pole at daytona, No she was the pole sitter, No she was the fastest qualifier. There finally got it politically correct. No points for the pole . JMO
