this is an interesting story. I never really paid much attention to this stuff until Daytona of 2002. I am in a race pool where we have to pick one driver for each track during each of the 2 halves of racing. What im trying to say is you can only take a driver once for the first half of the season and then after Chicago who ever has the least amount of points is the winner of the pool 1st Place equals minus 10 points 2nd place equals 2 points, 3rd=3 points etc...... and a pole is worth minus 2 points. the thing is you have to call your pic in on thursday before the race or a day before they qualify in some cases like charlotte or daytona. So back to my story-----I was trying to figure out who i wanted to take at the Daytona 500 in 2002. The number 22 kept popping up everywhere i went. i was behind a bus and the bus number was #22. I had to send a package by Fed-Ex and they told me my pick-up # was 022. There were a couple of more instances that stood out to me but the one that got me to pick Ward Burton was at lunch on the day I was calling in my pick there was a huge tractor trthe parking lot of my work and it had on the back of it a huge Caterpillar dump truck and a Cat distributor truck was parked in the parking spot that I usually park my truck in. Fast Forward to now---yesterday I was trying to figure out who to take at Texas when a few weird things happened to me and made me take Elliot Sadler. 1st reason the date of Sundays race is 3-30-2003. 3plus30plus2plus3equals38. Reason number 2 and 3, I was looking through some old sign magazines (i make signs) I had a bout 12 or so on the table and i lifted about halfway up on them and a billboard that had the name Elliott on it was on the cover. Now that may mean Bill Elliott but this last thing sealed the deal for me--- I lifted about 4 more magazines up and there was a picture of the little M&M guys on the cover of that magazine. So i thought i was funny that two magazines that had absolutely nothing to do with racing helped make a decision for me to pick a driver for the race.......If you took the time to read this i appreciate it and tell me stories of your own like this.
