Does anyone on the forum enjoy good wine or is this strictly a beer crowd.

Me? Wine tastes terrible to me. I've never been able to drink even a small glass of it.. ANY of it!
As for beer... about 1/2 bottle a month here. I don't even know which brand might taste best to me.
Liquor? Not a taste in 20+ years.
I simply THINK better sober! So I stay thataway.
Betsy

If I enjoyed wine, I would be a Busch fan.:) Seriously, no wine, beer or liquor for me either. The strongest thing I drink is Vernor's Ginger Ale.

Wow, a teetotaler crowd!! Who would've thunk it.
Wine doesn't agree with me. I have however been known to tip back a few 12 ouncers. And something a little stronger occasionally passes these lips.

Oh, I love a good wine.

A good French white just sets my taste buds to tingling.
A good California merlot hits the spot also.
TRL, try these wines from Portugal. They are great for just sipping and even go with seafood or chicken. A plus is that they are very inexpensive.

My tastes vary in wine. At times I enjoy a dry Italian wine like a bardolino. Other times I can do for a sweeter or more fruity wine like a Sangria or some of the flavored wines of Door Valley, Wi.

Not into French wines at all but I have had some good wines from Luxembourg and Germany.

New York and California wines are good. I am not usually into the sweet stuff. Usually semi sweet or dry.

It seems that in the last 10 years the Merlot has been the trendy wine to drink but I have not aquired a tast for variety at all.

Never could get into the cheap stuff like Thunderbird or anything of the Sneaky Pete variety. That **** is aged with a stop watch.

Wine is like beer sometimes. Hype sells.
Corona seems to be so popular for a Mexican beer. I don't see anything that great about it. But give me a Modelo Especial or Negro Modelo and I am happy.

Hey, I've always been different from the crowd.

Guido, the Luxembourg and German whites are just a bit too tart for my tastes. The French are sweeter and smoother to my palate. There are a few CA that are good, also.

I usually don't drink a red wine unless(and I know this is heresy), it is chilled. LOL

And I don't see the fascination with Corona, either. :p

I am not a drinker either. Never did like wine when I did drink. Gave up cigarettes too. Man no fun anymore. LOL

I enjoy an occasional glass of (gasp) Gallo Mountain Rhine or Glen Ellen white Zinfandel.
Beer of choice is Busch Lite.

I like a glass or two of a good Merlot with my pasta.
Not too big on beer. If I'm going to have beer, it'll be something amber or dark.
I do like vodka and pomegranate juice, though :D

Gallo started out small a long time ago but now they have wines that have won awards all over the world. They've come a long way.

I remember the ads for their wines. "Snapanoma" still cracks me up and I still have a hard time saying Sonoma. :D

Muggle, I drink probably more wine than beer, but about 99% of it is of the red variety. Of late, I've been doing the rounds of Australian reds, probably more merlot than anything else, but I do love a good cab. When I go out to eat at an Italian place, I will partake of the house chianti.

A few years ago, a Chilian wine, Walnut Crest Merlot, scored very big in the Wine Spectator. Since that wine sells for a very low price, it quickly went off the shelf. Now once again, you can find it just about anywhere, and it's still a very good wine.

I used to keep a data base of the various wines I tried and liked, but that too was a long time ago. One of my very favorite wines that I now have a hard time finding, though it can be found, is a California brand, Guenoc, Cabernet Sauvignon. Since I've been down here in the south, I've only found it once in a wine shop here in WS.

Oh, my mother-in-law gave me for my birthday a bottle of Biltmore Estates Chardenay. Not bad. And I've yet to try any of Childress' wines.

The Walnut Crest is indeed a very good wine, especially at the price. We used to drink it frequently as an every day wine with meals. For some reason we haven't had it recently.

A nice red wine (inexpensive) from Spain that we enjoy is Vina Alarba (can be bought at World Market stores). Another very good red wine is Vinha Do Monte from Portugal, it usually costs around $8.99 or $9.99 a bottle. It usually can be bought at Total Wine store.

Never could develop a taste for wine. It all tastes a bit like kerosene to me.Now a nice ice cold bottle of Miller High Life or a Rolling Rock always sounds good.

Can't stand any wine or champagne I have ever tried.

I don't drink beer very often anymore, but I am fairly particular when I do. I love Molson Canadian Lager, and I will take Labatt Blue in a pinch. Many places you go locally don't serve either so Bud Light will do in those cases. :beerbang:

As for the hard stuff, I used to drink way too much Wild Turkey and other things. Now I will drink a little Jim Beam or Captain Morgan but only mixed and not very often at all.

Muggle, you can sure tell the hard core beer drinkers from the classy alcohol drinkers like us.

If you like blends, and there are many out there today, give Luna di Luna Cabernet/Merlot blend a try. It's in a red bottle from Italy and is very good.

BTW, I'm almost strictly an under $10 a bottle wino. There are so many great wines that fit that category and when I feel like putting down some big bucks, I'll look for a $13.00 bottle. :)

As far as wine I like sweet wines with Sangria (the 'white trash of wine') being a favorite. My drink of choice is (Bacardi) coconut rum and Pepsi/Coke :)

Get a recipe for Sangria and make it yourself. I guarentee you that you will love it. :) Lots of fruit.

I forgot for a minute there.

In my youth I used to drink Wild Irish Rose and MD(mad dog)20/20. Does that count as wine to you guys?

I'm partial to the very dry whites. I like the dry reds also. I never could drink any of the sweet dessert wines.

I don't like the smell of beer....I will. however, sip a good scotch every now and then.

nw will supply the cheese for our wine tasting party.

Name the date!
A wine tasting is a good idea and lots of fun. Perhaps we can have it at Betsy's house. :D

Btw buckaroo, I also try to stay under $10 a bottle. Every once in awhile I will buy a wine that goes over by a few dollars.

Sure ya can!

Any time. I like cheeze and I wouldn't mind watching your silly asses staggering around the house. One big plus..I also have extra beds for those of you that cannot staggger out to your cars.
Betsy:D

It's a shame we're so far apart. I'd like to meet some of you characters...

Does anyone remember Ripple pear flavor ????? A great wine at $3.99 for a 1 liter bottle.:beerbang:  ;)

C'mon NW, you might as well ask for Thunderbird. :p

When I lived up in Iowa, now and then I'd make my way over to the Amana Colonies where there were wine and cheese shops all over the place. You would walk into one and they would offer you a sample of their various wines. Most were sweet table wines and I didn't care for them. Rhubarb was one of the best though.

What????? No Annie Green Springs or Boonesfarm????????????
If they would have had them and they were cheap enough, I'm sure we would have. We were teenagers who just wanted to get as drunk as possible for as little money as possible. Those cheap ones did the trick well. I remember my cousin used to get a magnum of Canai(sp?) wine for like $7.00 once in a while too. We considered that high class. :p

Try this wine. We had a wine and cheese party last night and we served different types of Rose wine. This Rose was absolutely wonderful, try some. Great for summer drinking.

Domaine St Antoine Rose - France - 2007 - Bought 6/21/2008 at Total Wine for $8.97 per bottle

I bought mine at a wine store by the name of "Total Wine". Total Wine also has stores in Florida.
