Does winning a title still get you into the HOF?

The past two seasons have shown us that the winning the title and being the best team in a given year are two different things these days. So my question is if you hoist the trophy at the end of the year does that make you a shoe in for the HOF? I mean if everything ended right now I'd have a hard time saying that Ryan Blaney is really HOF material, his stats are not just all that impressive compared to a lot of other drivers. I'm definitely not a Denny fan, but to me he goes in way before Blaney does, title or not.

So what are we using now to determine who is HOF worthy? Wins? Final four appearances? Playoff appearances?

To me the guy that shows up in the final four on a consistent basis is more deserving than the guy that happens to run good in the final race and win the championship.

Eh, most likely.

Ryan Blaney does not deserve to get into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as of now, but if he won 10–15 more Cup Series races, he would most likely be in.

There is no absolute standard or set of stats needed and it is obviously comes down tp the subjective opinions of the voting panel.
That being said I think that all cup champions will find their way in to HoF, some will just go sooner than others.

Comparing Blaney to Hamlin isnt simple. Blaney is only 30 years old and he probably has 12 to 15 more years of good chapters to add to his career.

I think Hamlin will be a first ballot HoF entry regardless of any Cup titles or not. It is already an impressive career.

First off, fuk Denny Hamlin

But it would be a crying shame that Blaney gets into the HoF before Hamlin because of his 2023 championship

You could say the same about a lot of guys after their first championship. If Brad Keselowski had retired after 2012, would he be a Hall of Fame? Kurt Busch in 2004?

It's WAY too early for these kinds of posts. Blaney still has plenty of time to rack up more wins and championships. Who knows where he's at in 10-15 years.

Denny has 3 more Daytona 500 wins than Martin and they let that scrub in there.
I'm guessing Denny goes in first ballot.

Kulwicki got in on 5 wins and a championship.
Should we reexamine that one?

First, how do we define the best team in a year? Was Michigan the best team this year? Georgia....Line 1. Now that that is out of the way, I hate HOFs. Hate them. I love the history of this sport, and the greats that are a part of it. Who is anybody to evaluate their greatness? Dave Moody has a ballot. Thank you, and I will see myself out.

At the end of the day I think it comes down to who you're up against in a given year for voting

A Cup championship by itself isn’t enough to get you in, but I do think it lowers the bar as far as what all else you need to accomplish to get in. And I’m sure Blaney will get there eventually. But if he retired right now, I’m not sure he has the whole résumé to make it. Especially not before a guy like Denny Hamlin or even Carl Edwards.

A Cup Championship locks you in. It is the ultimate prize.
