Despite Turner Motorsports dumping Reed Sorenson, they have lost Dollar General to Joe Gibbs Racing. Dollar General will be a sponsor on the #11 NNS car for Brian Scott and will be on Joey Logano's #20 Cup car in some races as well.

I was understanding they released Reed Because they where loosing Dollar General and had not been able to find another full time sponsor? You make it sound like they dumped Sorenson hoping they could keep DG?

Turner never gave a reason for releasing Reed this year, but he did say he wasn't happy about the lack of feedback from Reed during the race and decided to bring in someone else to elvaluate the program.

I'm not sure why Dollar General was OK with it and remain on the car. Perhaps they had asked earlier for a driver change and didn't get it. We'll probably never know for sure.

I'm sure the wheels were already in motion for DG to leave before they canned Sorenson. The owner was quoted as saying he's not spending all that money to run 3rd (points). If that was the case, he should have hired a better driver. Sorenson is not going to win a lot of races or a championship.

I saw where Dollar General is going to be on the 20 with Lagano driving for 12races next year.

Makes me wonder if Home Depot's financial problems are causing them to cut back?

I think it has more to do with they are tired of being upstaged by JJ. Joey is not the prodical son everyone made him out to be when he took over for Tony's deaparture from JGR.

What? You true to get better by firing the best driver that makes sense:confused:

I read somewhere they were only gonna be on half of the races.

yep, I guess the rumors were true that HD wanted to scale back and only way they would stay on the car full time is if JGR signed Edwards. Now that they didn't get Edwards, HD can scale back.

Makes you also wonder if JGR got edwards if DG would be the full time sponsor for Logano on the 4th Cup car.

Seems Logano has been well received by the media but hasn't produced. In his third full Cup season he only has one win, and that was a rain shortened race, which doesn't count in my opinion. This year he only has one top-five and three top-tens? That's pretty bad. I can see why Home Depot is upset, especially considering the success of their biggest competitor, Lowes.

Just a feeling. Joey went from racing all the time and overbearing parents to owning his own home and being a millionaire. He'll play around and enjoy himself, then get serious about his career.

If you're right he better get serious soon because sponsors demand results. If Lowes can pay for a Hendrick team with Jimmie driving I guarantee Home Depot could pay more to get a top-tier driver. They certainly don't have one now.

True. I think Zippy won't CC for him next year. He either goes to Denny or SHR. Maybe Ford goes to Joey, or somebody new CC's the 20. Just think, JGR passed on Keselowski.

Joey is still only 21 years old. He would not have been brought into CUP had Tony not left JGR. Will he win 5 straight titles? I doubt it. But he has the talent and the equipment to do more than he has to this point. All he needs is a little more "seasoning". But y'all are right about sponsors not having a lot of patience these days. They want immediate returns on their investments.

"Seasoning"? Ask around at any of the Ct tracks he ran on. Drove way over his head and wrecked a lot of good equipment, not his but other racers.

Lets put it this way, I don't know how he got a cup ride but there's a lot of others locally I would have considered long before choosing him, turns my stomach.

I honestly don't believe that Joey will ever be super successful in Cup. He may win in Nationwide but he just doesn't seem like a guy who's good enough for Cup.

I am sure there were. It happens in all sports. How many great stick-and-ball guys never get the chance to show their stuff in prime time. It happens in music, too.

I think Joey is decent. I don't think Zippy is the man for him or possiblly for anyone at this point in the game.
