So, the NBA has the slam dunk contest. MLB has the home run derby. And the NFL has ... um, well, I don't know! (Who watches the Pro Bowl anyways?)

Now, on Saturday, it's NASCAR's turn to shine. They will crown the driver who does the best ... wait for it .... donut? Yup. They've been doing this since 2008. I saw the inaugural challenge and was not impressed.
For me, if you've seen one NASCAR donut/burnout, then you've seen them all. I'm not sure if I'll take in this years competition or not.

I'm not sure how much more creative any of the Ultra Victory Challenge participants can get. I haven't seen anything different post-race recently, so why should I expect something new here?
Hopefully I'm wrong. Hopefully someone will "wow" us.
It is for a good cause, though. The $10,000 prize check will be donated to the charity of the winning driver's choice.

Still. Donuts, anyone? On second thought, I think I'll pass.

(Spanky Spangler applauds wildly with approval)

How about a rollover competition, or figure 8 Bus race!1!:beerbang:

Donate the doughnut prize? Clever. I don't think anything is wrong with it, I think it would be cool for them to come up with some kind of skill competition for the drivers. Who can drive the furthest on 2 wheels, the longest Dukes of Hazard jump, best infield slide, best spin recovery or best take out move, or who can go the fastest through pit road without speeding, fastest slalom, longest bump draft without going under a certain speed, or drag race down the back stretch. NASCAR is missing the boat, they could do so much with this.

On second thought, I'd be happy if they just bring back the old cars and put on a good race.

I've never been a fan of the post-race burnout or donuts. I like it when Mark Martin simply takes a Victory Lap.
I will not be tuning in to the donut contest.
