OK, Ok, ok... this isn't a "dream car" thread for the folks who want perfect 1957 Chevys and 1967 Corvette Stingrays...but what is your dream car - right now - that you may actually be able to afford and own and drive?

It can be a car that you can afford right now but are holding back for various reasons like me. Just a cool car you would like.

For me - it's a new Honda Civic Si. Hot rod. 6 speed transmission on the floor...155 mph estimated top speed...plenty of bells and whistles for me and a change from my current automatic Buick Century (although it is a good car).

I know...I know...you all will say "Tony...you'll shoot your eye out".

Your thoughts?

Been debating on getting a RS4 or a C63 (2012-13).

I like this thread.. Even though it may expose how much of a broke-ass I am...

A 96-00 Toyota Taco Prerunner.... ****** love that truck but everyone wants $10,000 for them. Ridiculous.

I also love Nissan 240 SX's... S13-15.. I've had a couple opportunities to drive turbo, welded diff 240's and they are FUN!

Other than that, I'd love to finance a Subaru WRX STI, not the hatch. But again... I'm a broke-ass at the moment. Working on the bitchin' truck though..

I just wanna go sideways thru the dirt.

you better not give the ex the ten grand then..... :D

LOL....I'm coming up with "strategies"...Honda Civic Si (sports fuel injected).....one more shift than it really needs (5 forward - 1 reverse)...155 top end...about $25K...(+plus big insurance increase)...still...it's tempting to go through those gears every day. Get in a jam and just downshift and slam it.

My (ex) wife wanted a Honda (since she had one as her first car)...we needed a car and I went through the USAA buyers service to get her a civic hatchback. Of course the dealership dicked with us but I had the vin # and price for the civic we were going to buy. We ended up going back and forth because they said they had sold the car - but after a bunch of "almost waking outs" we got the Si for about $500 more (still well below the "bickerering" price for the regular Civic).

That Si was a little rocket ship. I read in an SCCA magazine that with stiffened springs and racing tires they were kicking Porsches asses...pretty much right out of the box.

For me - it was the coolest car I ever drove. Zip, zip...whoosh...100 mph in no time...but that was about it - you couldn't get it much past 105.

This 1000 times. I love an old 4x4 truck. had a 2000 chev blazer midnight black, black windows. That was a money pit, and I rebuilt the motor, starter and alternator, but boy it was kick ass to get in the truck with snow half up to the door windows and drive out of a parking spot or make your own. I also love the mud...nothing beats off roading in the mud or sand/dirt.

sigh.

I have a regular Honda Civic 07, I love mine. Wanna race? lmao

I was driving down the road in town (Atlanta) and a truck pulled out in front of a pack of us cars...I had a car to the left and a concrete wall to the right...not much of a choice so I just slammed on the breaks (racin deal)..anyway I didn't get hurt much but it totaled the old Si....so now I drive a Buick "comfort car" that I bought from my Uncle...nice transportation but you would lap with a Civic on a road course ;)....I might have a shot against you at Talladega if it was a five lap race - but the few times I've jacked it past 100 I noticed the temp gauge climbing...so it would probably blow in about 6 laps maximum.

I'd love a new Toyota Camry, I know how lame, right? Although I have to say an Infiniti Q50, or even a QX50 would be pretty sweet, especially in a hybrid.

Just about any car is a pipe dream at this point in my life, but my tastes run below $50,000 even in fantasy land usually.

I got a used Hyundai Genesis with a 385 hp V8, rear wheel drive, it has a stiffer suspension than most cars. I only have fun on freeway ramps when I'm not stuck behind someone (which is about half the time). And it gets better millage than my old Chrysler V6 (even w/spirited freeway ramp driving). It's luxury has spoiled me, the cooled driver seat is an unexpected sweet feature during the summer.

I get that. I had a Saturn L300 for a while that had some really nice features. The heated leather seats were pretty sweet in the winter.

i have a 85 dodge with a 360 4-barrel, that i can't keep enough gas in, and also a 87 toyota 4-speed pickup that has over 350,000 miles on, and still runs great, so for me anything with power windows, doors and such, i would like. other than gas, i love driving my dodge.

Suhweet ride. Hell of a car for the money they go for off the lot.

Yep, I bet it'll be hard to get one of those for less than 75K even with a base sticker of 60K. The only downside is that it is still a sloppy handler, but 707hp can overcome a lot of flaws.

4x4 Ford Raptor.

My Civic has terrible take off. It is only a little 4 cylinder. It still gets me from point A to point B though. I do kind of wish I had something with more power. Would be nice on the highway when someone is being an idiot.

Would love to find a 1993-2002 Supra in decent condition. Probably the closest thing to a muscle car that Toyota has built, the turbo models topped out at 160mph+.

Finding an affordable one that hasn't been dogged or given the Fast and the Furious treatment is the real challenge.

You just need to get an Si...those F'ers cook. Pretty much fast go-carts but they will smoke the field on re-starts. Of course don't get in a wreck or you will likely be killed

I'm old skool... I've lusted after a 1968 or 1969 GTO convertible for a long time. With the Ram Air III, 4-speed, hidden headlights... the works. Although I might have to settle for a lower power version of the 400 and an automatic since my knee probably couldn't handle that clutch anymore. It couldn't take the curves like most of the cars the rest of you are proposing, but I would install aftermarket suspension and brake modifications so it wouldn't be so straight-line-only like it came from the factory. It would be driver quality - wouldn't have to be a show car.

I could afford one, but it's hard to justify the prices they're asking. Especially when the same money can buy a pretty good dirt late model...
