Nice Andy, but maybe one more in Martinsville would make it better.:D
Off topic but anyone heard from DPK just wondered if he made it home OK with that big truck and trailer.

My dream . No my passionate wish , is that Nascar will leave everything alone . Just once , for one year , turn a deaf ear to all of the idiots who want to change everything about Nascar and give everyone a rest .

I'm proposing rolling back all the changes they made to appease the idiots. :D

SCREW POCONO

But it doesn't fit in a triangle

What? No Churchill Downs? C'mon Andy, you did name this the "Dream schedule thread", afterall.
Pretty good list, though. Totally agree with the inclusion of an Iowa Cup race. Love that track.

It's missing my two favorite current Cup tracks, but to each there own.

And I noticed you have cut down your schedule to 30 races. Interesting.

Count me as one who doesn't have a problem with the current schedule, but go ahead and tweak it a bit.
Put in Iowa on the schedule, and if we're talking "dream" here, end the season @ Daytona.

I know that would put the two Daytona dates really close together but I have always felt our Super Bowl should occur at the end of each season. And make sure the race ends under the lights.

But that's just me - dreaming.

I agree. Never change anything and send 'em back to the beach to race.

Right now the Cup schedule consists of 24 different race tracks that include 3 short tracks and 2 road courses. 19 of the tracks on today's schedule are a mile or greater in length. I think most of the excitement comes from the smallest percentage of race tracks. If I could make up the 36 race schedule I'd leave one race at each of the current venues and add a combination of 12 more short tracks and road courses.

Ah , finally someone with a sense of history. I'll take North Wilkesboro, the Rock and The Lady in Black over any of those newbe tracks that Andy wants to go to.

I agree with those 3. IMO, Darlington is everything a race track should be.

It will never happen but while I am dreaming... I

1st the tracks that get only one event

Atlanta
Bristol
Daytona (season opener)
Greenville Pickens
Hickory
Homestead
Las Vegas
Mobile
Montreal
Nashville (the half mile fairgrounds track)
New Hampshire
Pensacola
Phoenix
Sonoma
Thompson, Connecticut
Road America
Toledo
Texas
Watkins Glenn
Winchester
NYC, (the proposed road course circut being pitched to F1 for 2014)
Charlotte ( keeps the six hunerd memorial day weekend)
Talladega (non points event)
Tracks that get two events listed below

Darlington (labor day southern 500 restored)
Rockingham
Indianapolis Raceway Park
Iowa
North Wilksboro
Richmond
Martinsville (including the season finale)

In every event the top ten in points is inverted and starts in the last ten grid spots. However they can qualify for pit selections, and any other pole awards apart from starting p1.

Every event must have gorgeous trophy queens.
Any potential new owner that wants to build a new track that is 1.5 miles or longer would be assassinated.

yea "dream" cause some of those tracks cant support a cup race, trucks maybe but not cup maybe if they cut the field to 10 cars but then seating will be a huge problem

I know that they have not raced there yet.... or if it is even finished however there is a road course being built in Texas. If anyone has seen the facility how about throwing this into the mix for something new.

And feel free to school me on this as well..... Laguna Seca...... is this NASCAR worthy to throw in to the mix.

And for the record, I know nothing of the facilities of these tracks.... if they could handle the fans etc....... just looking for something different... after all this is just a dream!

8 road course races on 7 tracks (Daytona gets 2; Pocono is classified as a road course). Half get a Nationwide or Truck race, half gets a Rolex race (excluding 1st Daytona, which gets all three).

16 short tracks races (1 mile or less) on 8 tracks, which get two events each. One weekend gets a single Truck race, the other gets N'wide support.

12 super speedway races (greater than 1 mile). Most get 1 event of 500 miles; Charlotte gets 600; Darlington gets two of 400. Those with only one weekend gets both a Truck and N'wide race if requested.

No Chase. No plate races; Talladega gets first priority if they put in a road course. No non-points events. Supporting series are rotated; if you got N'wide last year, you get Truck this year (or Rolex for the road courses). Additional supporting events from lower series, ARCA, etc. can be added or substituted as requested. Open weekends after the 9th, 18th, and 27th races, breaking the season into 4 quarters.

Obviously, it will never happen.
