Since some of you doubt my favorite drivers' talent and make condecending remarks at me.

OWENS’ STRONG PERFORMANCE AT POCONO CUT SHORT

Long Pond, Pa. (June 9, 2008) - With 10 laps remaining in the Pocono 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Pocono Raceway, Alli Owens appeared to be on track to better her career best finish. The 19-year-old had overcome much adversity and was charging toward the top-10 when disaster struck. Entering turn two, a car in front of her lost control and blocked the track. When the dust cleared, Owens’ day was over and she was relegated to a 24th place finish.

“We had an awesome car today,” said Owens. “We were heading to our best finish of the year and it was snatched from us. We overcame so much today and had a real chance of a top-10 finish. Unfortunately, the No. 39 car just lost it right in front of me and I had nowhere to go. It looked like he just got in turn two too fast.”

The Daytona Beach, Fla. native started 18th in the 38-car field and was extremely happy with the performance of her car. On lap 20, she faced her first obstacle when a hose to the power steering pump failed. Owens carried on without power steering for more than 25 laps until a caution period on lap 48 allowed the crew, led by veteran crew chief Mario Gosselin, to fix the problem.

“It’s frustrating enough that we had a hose break,” said Owens. “But to have the crew do such a great job of fixing it and keeping me on the lead lap only to get taken out so late in the race really stinks.”

Owens, who has just five series starts to her credit, has a career best finish of 15th.

“I’m proud of everyone on this team,” said Owens. “When faced with adversity, everyone stayed calm and did their job. I’ve only been in the series for a short time and I know my day will come but that doesn’t make today any easier. We will regroup and head to Michigan and look for a better day there.”

The next race for Owens and the ElectrifyingCareers.com team is the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan Speedway held on June 13.

What's this? She was capable of driving the car without power steering ... at Pocono? And then running back up to the top-15?

I didn't think a driver with "no talent" was capable of this.

And here some of you all were thinking I'm the crazy one for cheering for her.

Perhaps, ole' Andy isn't talking out of his ass. ;)

But, I did like the comments that I got ... like I'm only cheering for her because I like the way she looks. Puuuhh-leaze.

That would be Danica Patrick TYVM :growl: There's a lot more to the drivers ole' Andy like than just looks. Because, we can all tell that's why I'm cheering for JPM, Happy Harvick and Mark Martin.

These racecar drivers get where they are because of talent, not because of looks and gender. To make comments like that goes to show how much you guys (those who made such inane statements) know about racing.

Oh yeah, the comments about me being PC, I also enjoyed those. :D

I think Alli Owens has a ton of talent and I do believe she'll be racing in Sprint Cup somewhere down the road. And I will be right there watching live, and hopefully making the call on her first career win in the NASCAR on TNT booth!

Oh, that's right. I'm also nuts for thinking Joey Logano is a great racecar driver. Poor Mark (Martin). :(

She ain't all that sparkly in the looks department. Danica's got her beat there.

I think Andy wants it to be called a Kilt...All he needs now is a bagpipe, to blow all that hot air! :D

Hey watch it there bub. As an Irishman, I am offended by that remark. I'll go get the Canadian Black Watch to take you out if you don't watch out! :owquitit:

Hey Andy, you always talk out of your butt. Now why is it that you jump on the band wagon of every young female that comes along who drives? I think you have something else on your mind, but that's okay. You just don't need to deny it. As for your claim that drivers get their ride because of their talent, while that is a part of it, you know that's not all, or the most important thing. And winning is again something else. Driving in an ARCA race doesn't mean diddly. I can name you plenty of veteran ARCA drivers who have won, won championships and didn't do worth a darn in the Cup series. You obviously live in a fantasy world. One thing though, you aren't afraid to voice your opinion. I just want to know one thing... how long before you begin to work in the TNT booth, and one more thing, how long before any of your fantasy girls actually win a NASCAR top three tier race? Will I see that in my life time? :owned:

First point, who's going to bring on a driver that's there just because they're a woman? D4D, maybe. But, there are still very few people who are getting rides out of that. There are many many young female racers who are racing. Some are very good - others, not so much. But, there are those who excel. Chrissy Wallace and Alli Owens are both names I've long considered to be the top candidates to be the first woman to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Yes, you will see Chrissy and/or Alli win a NASCAR top-tier division race in your lifetime. Chrissy will probably be the one to do this first - she has a legendary racing name and a huge backing in the racing community. But, I don't take away anything from Alli Owens, I think she'll be right up there with her. These are the two to keep an eye on, though I would not leave Gabi DiCarlo out of the picture.

You'll find that I was never on board the Erin Croker bandwagon when she was supposed to be the great one. We saw how that turned out. Erin Crocker was just a, well...I think we all know about the whole Evernham deal by now. ;)

Only "bandwagon" I ride is the Kyle Busch Haters Bandwagon. And, I believe I've been credited as the founder of this. :growl: That's a mighty-packed bandwagon, let me tell you that.

I'm an Alli Owens fan for life. :D I was, and still am, a Shane Hmiel fan right out of ARCA and a Stuart Kirby fan right out of ARCA. They faded, but I'll cheer for Stuart when he does race. I've remained a fan of John Andretti, busting out in cheers and applause when he makes the races. And, I looked like a whack job cheering for Stuart Kirby a few years back. I also look like a whack job cheering for Juan Montoya. I support my drivers whole-heartadely. It's in my blood, because I am a racing fan. :beerbang:

I started this whole thing as something that, well, as a good human-interest story to cover in the racing scene. But, I've truly become a huge Alli Owens fan, she's a driver who has earned my respect and doesn't get enough good publicity for what she can do and for what she has overcome. And she's already overcome a great deal more than other drivers in history. She has my 100% respect for it.

Here, do some reading. I know you righties hate reading stuff that doesn't fit into your agenda, but it doesn't hurt to expand your horizons. :owned:

It's my dream to call the Daytona 500. Will it happen? The odds are stacked up against me, but it's not illegal to dream big. I am already very fortunate to be doing what I do now, and my deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who's allowed me to be a part of this at only 20 years-old. :beerbang:

I won't even respond to your inane "dream girl" comment.

And, no I am not afraid to voice my opinion. :growl:

...guess I better take it easy on you now that I know you're only 20.

still a lot to learn, remember this Andy if you may,...wisdom comes with age.

Being smart is great, but its better to be wise :)
