Driver Injured at FCS Memorial Day Classic

FCS STATEMENT REGARDING CALVIN BROOKS ACCIDENT

Callaway, VA – In the final lap of Monday night’s Late Model race at Franklin County Speedway, Calvin Brooks was injured in an accident when he was t-boned by another car. The car that had hit Brooks did not have brakes and was unable to avoid Brooks. Brooks is alert and responsive. He’s been transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital for further evaluation. As soon as we have an update on his condition, we will pass it down.

It was the worst wreck I've ever seen. Looked like an ARCA race at Talladega. Damn shame. Aside from this, the race was incredible from start to finish. I hate that the new promoter's first race ended this way.

He probably didn't know he had a brake failure. Franklin County's a high banked track... there's probably more working the throttle than using brakes.
