kyle petty (has been in contention for a win in ages)
brett bodine (should have retied a long time ago)
derrick cope (see bodine)

I wouldn't be surprised ---

Kyle Petty --- I just don't think his heart is still in it.

DJ --- I just don't see the fire burning in him like it once did.

Kenny Schrader --- retiring from Cup only. Will be racing in anything and everything at anytime.

Steve Park - Medical Reasons
Kyle Petty - To focus on team management

I don't think we will see any driver retire after this season. Drivers are funny about retiring, look at D.W., Dave Marcis, or Morgan Shepherd, they just don't like to say I don't have it anymore. With the new Nextel sponsorship they will stay at least one more season just to be a part of the circus.

I don't think any driver should be forced to retire (pressured by fans or media). In my opinion, Dave Marcis, for example, is still one of the best racers out there, but he just couldn't afford to keep a good quality car under him.

Though don't be surprised to see the #11 team to close down this year, but I'm sure Brett will try and come back to race something.

I think Kyle MIGHT retire at the end of next year! But I am not holding my breath! I don't want him too, btu I think its alomost time too.

Petty Enterprises never seems to have recovered since Robbie Loomis left the team to be the crew chief for Gordon's team. That team has to turn around soon or Kyle might not have much of a choice.

I think these guys need to, but I agree with bowtie, drivers hate to admit they don't have what it takes anymore.

Petty
Park
Bodine
Cope (why does he even bother?)
Schrader

"Cope why does he even bother?"

Cause his hearts still in it

well its been reported that Bodine has a sponser signed for next year.....dont see the team closin up just yet

Personally, I think Rudd, Jarrett and Terry Labonte can be around for at least 3-5 more years. I just dont see them calling it quits after 2 of them come off 3 years of good performance and another racking up good finishes.

I think we will see Brett Bodine call it quits, no sponsor, lack of funds to continue and lack of good finishes. His last win was at North Wilkesboro in 1990 by the way.

Ken Schrader is a probable to retire by the end of the year, it's been rumored on Jayski.com that he said specifically that this might be his final year in Winston Cup. He's been stuck in crappy rides the past few years and that might be the reason why.

Derrick Cope, you guys are right, why bother ? He's past his prime, way past.

I remember when Cope raced the #10 Purolator Chevrolet haha so long ago

I wouldn't be surprised to see Schraeder retire from WC and maybe go to trucks. Kyle Petty probably should retire, but I don't think that he will. There are many that don't have the sponsorship or past their good days, but keep showing up to sneak in. It is said that they keep driving as long as they are having fun, but I don't see how it would be fun just being in the show and knowing you aren't even close to being competitive.

I think Ken Schrader will be forced to retire due to lack of sponsorship, etc., but needless to say, he'll be racing a variety of vehicles in a variety of places, and will probably end up as a fill-in by the middle of next year for an injury or firing. So he'll be kind of retired and kind of not.
