Okay here is my list of maybe drivers who may never make the chase . How do you rate them as most likely to succeed / most likely not .

1. Juan Pablo
2. Jamie Mac
3. Joey Legano
4. Jeff Burton
5. Marcos Ambrose
6. AJ Allmendinger
7. Aric Almirola
8. Regan Smith
9. David Reutiman
10.Landon Cassill

If I was a betting man I would go with Joey Legano, AJ Allmendinger and maybe Regan Smith. They have the youth and at least time to develop in good seats.
I am not certain about Ambrose's age. I am not certain that Aric Almirola can do it, even with a good ride. Age works against most of the others aside from Cassill.

1. Regan Smith- depending on what's on the Verizon for this team I think he's got the best chance. He's a good driver and doing a lot with a little.
The rest of them, I'll group them together. Burton I feel is facing the decision when to retire. He can still get it done but no consistency won't get you in the Chase. That's the same reason I don't see the rest of them making it either. Montoya has had plenty of time and hasn't developed. We have 34 ovals a year. That's not gonna change.

I will say with confidence, the Dinger will be the first off that list to make the Chase, and I say as early as 2012. He will also win this year.

I agree with Burton, he is past his prime but like many NASCAR stars of the past, he is done but has the competitive desire. Just like Bobby Labonte, he had his prime time but it was a short window for him. He needs to totally give it up and run for N.C. Govenor.

My feeling on Burton, he stayed way to long at Rousch. Could of done a lot if he would have left for RCR when Childress wanted him.

Never make the chase.
1. Juan Pablo
5. Marcos Ambrose
9. David Reutiman
10.Landon Cassill

4 Times!

If Mayfield can make it twice, I'd say there's hope for any of the above drivers ;)

Juan Pablo made the chase in 2009! haha

I was getting ready to say that. JPM was great in 2009 -- not only made the Chase but was a contender for the first half of the Chase. Ganassi sucks right now... even when McMurray won three races, those cars were horribly inconsistent. Montoya doesn't come on until the summer months anyways (Sears Point, Pocono, Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, Michigan, Loudon).

I thought it was obvious , I wanted your thoughts on the future , but I guess I should have been specific . Anyway I take it that you think Juan will make the chase again?

I'm just messing around cause other then Burton none of the others have ever made a chase so it wasn't very clear and I just thought it was funny that everyone forgot he made one already.

Personally I think he could make one again just because of the wild card system, if he could win both road races he could grab a wild card spot but I mean hell, the way Jeff Gordons season has been going there is a chance he won't ever make a chase again  haha

I thought about including Jeff in the list , but I was afraid of ruffling Matt's feathers .

My order,
1. Jamie Mac
2. Dinger
3. Aric Almirola ( Mark my words we'll see good things from this boy, He's a Racer )
4. Regan Smith
5. Marcos Ambrose
6. Landon Cassill
7. Jeff Burton ( sorry Jeff )
8. Juan Pablo
9. Joey Lagano
10. Reuti ( Damn shame no one will put him in a Good ride )

Just to add my thoughts about someone who will never make the chase

Danica Patrick

I mean you guys should have seen that coming from me :p

"Never" is a harsh word. As we've seen with Keselowski and Montoya before, if a driver gets hot at the right time, he/she could drive their way right in to the Chase.

Mi
Intentionally left her out for two reasons , first , it's too soon to tell ...second, noone can be objective
I suppose it is but it‘s not like Cassill is aseasoned veteran. Where did you learn to run backwards so fast? ;)
