Andretti-Dallenbach In Book Drive
Drivers John Andretti and Wally Dallenbach will be racing hard to win - and
to help young readers win, too - this weekend at the one-mile Phoenix
International Raceway. Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories, serving as an
associate sponsor for Dallenbach's NASCAR Busch Grand National team and
Andretti's #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge NASCAR Winston Cup team, will
donate 43 books for each lap the two drivers complete in NASCAR events at
Phoenix this week. The donated books will go to First
Book-Phoenix/Scottsdale. At 43 books per lap, that means that Cheerios
Spoonfuls of Stories, in conjunction with Simon & Schuster, will donate as
many as 22,016 new children’s books if both drivers complete each lap in
their respective races. First Book, a national nonprofit which provides new
books to children from low-income families, will distribute the donated
books to children in need in the Greater Phoenix area. Nationally, as many
as 61 percent of low-income families have no books at all in their homes for
their children.
